Brain teaser,XD on screen

Post by tankduel » Sat May 21, 2005 3:59 pm

Here's something to keep some of you occupied until the next XD release.
Who has seen XD used as a prop in a movie or TV show?
To kick things off I'm pretty sure I saw an XD plane (can't remember which) in the 'strike team' room on 'The Shield'.
Also,on 'Malcolm in the Middle', Malcolm's dad set up a Pearl Harbor diorama only to be outdone by his neighbour (which they sabotaged),I'm pretty sure there was some XD mixed in there.
Any others?

As to the Big Beautiful Doll model on the book shelf in The Shield, I'm pretty certain that was smaller than 1/18 scale.

Good God, now I *know* I'm a nerd.

I think that there were some XD planes mixed into that Pearl Harbor setup on Malcolm in the Middle. I remember thinking that when I saw that particular episode. Also, on the National Geographic Channel special Tycoon Toys: Tanks some guys that made custom 1:1 tanks for Hollywood productions (I can't remember their names or their business name) had alot of tank models stashed around their office. Some of those pieces had to have been XD & 32x vehicles and the 1:6 Stuart was clearly seen.

Its not exactly that we're extreme nerds -- we're just more observant towards certain details than others may be in a similar circumstance 8)

Excellent point Mr. T!

Does anyone know of something better than masking tape for keeping my glasses together at the center?

I remember seeing a Sum 41 video a few years ago that had a british corsair in it. They had placed other action figures on the wings and were conducting jabo missions on unsuspecting ground-based toys.

What's Sum 41? Is it like 'Action League'?, that's a laugh! I'll miss watching cartoons when my kids grow up,there will be no excuse; but then again I still play with toys! :)

Nope, Sum 41 is quasi-punk band...I saw that video on MTV2 along time ago. I can't remember what song it was for though

It is not xd, but I saw a 1:6 21st century little bird on Saturday Night Live a couple of years ago.

OK, more trainspotting (I should say XD spotting).
Just saw a segment of a show called 20/20, it was about a 6 year old American kid who is supposedly a reincarnation of a WW2 corsair pilot who was shot down over Iwo Jima.Anyway the tie in to this thread is the kid had a lot of XD planes hanging from the ceiling in his room.
As to the truth of the story, I dunno, but it looks like the parents had a lot to do with what the kid believed about himself, dressing him up like a Corsair pilot, and tons of aircraft toys. Any other thoughts about this 'story'?

Yeah--I heard about that one. The kid talked about eating meatloaf on the Essex and other weird things. Thought it was kind of spooky myself.

I noticed a snake stuka in one of the potterybarn-kids room type catalogs that end up on the dinner table regularly

I'm really suprised at the nerd patrol for not bringing up the neat shot of the yellow nose Me-109 in the openng shot of "Dirk's" office in "Sahara".

How can you guys have missed that? Seeing as how 21C has the product tie-in and we are still waiting for the helo and the M-48 from that picture that is to come out in 1/18.

XD Navy Blue Corsair spitted hanging in Charlie's office in an episode of 'Numbers' about a prototype vertical takeoff and landing microlight.
