well, it's interesting but not even close to 1/18. It'a sbout 1/10 scale. Made of wood, so it will probably weigh 120 pounds or so. Plus, it will most likely crack over time.

I've never seen a wooden model with an interior before; not sure how that works. They must hollow it out in places and then add some internal detail and put a vacuform (blue?) clear covering over it.

Huge for a wood plane.....i've ordered some big wood models but this thing is 3 times the size of anything i've got.

I'm holding out for one in 1/6. It's coming, piece by piece...... DML has now released the two side gunners with part of the fuselage.

In no time at all, all the rest of the positions will be available...... my guess is five to ten years. I'm already cleaning out my garage to hold it..
First guy is Tim Coburn -

and other gunner is Billy Hicks -

I waited two years for a 21C Avenger, why not 5 to 10 years for a B-17?

Yeah, my first thought was, "But where would I live?"

Kyosho PBY Catalina. 1/17 not 1/18 but pretty nice. They're hard to find now...expect to pay around $300.

How weird, I found a B-17 today also. But mine was in the sky over the shop. Then it spent the day making lazy circles over and around town. It was certainly too bog for a bedroom, at 1:1 scale I'd be better off living in it than trying to get it to live inside with me.

That B-17 is crazy big,and crazy expensive.Definately a rich boys toy.
Where the hell would you display it?

That Catalina looks pretty nice, and is very reasonably priced.
I know of Kyosho. They make pretty good diecast cars.
The same company I assume?

yes but this is an r/c plane. No clear windows, except the waist blisters but it has nice lines and is a good size: about 44 inches by 72 inches.

A rich boy's toy, to be sure, though I'd be hesitant to call it a toy or play with it, lest it fell on my feet. I don't think you can tow that thing with a wheelchair. And who can stroke a big chunk of wood anyway? Also, I assume this ships in a pallet? Not eco-friendly either.
