Elephant to be released!

Post by hotrodrock » Sat Sep 05, 2009 7:53 am

For those of us here who occasionally (or quite often) stray over into the 1/16 area, a company called Hooben will soon be releasing a RC Elephant. Looks to be quite impressive and will probably carry an impressive price. I'm sure someone such as Mato will eventually make one also which will bring the price down to my price range.

Don't hold your breath. They announced a T-54/55 over a year ago and it hasn't been released yet.

So, until we see that (which is past the prototype stage) on the market then we can believe an Elefant is next.

not surprising as i'm sure it will be released at some point in 1/16...as will most other high visibility tanks.

I emailed the company about the T-55 and got some gibberish back about how it's a kit form with no electronics or you can order with this or that, pricing was on a spreadsheet and was very confusing to attempt to try to understand.

My impression it's still not in a ready to run marketable package.

I just checked and I must have deleted the sheet.

Presumably in the $500+ range, given that the yet to be released Hooben T-55 was gonna go for about $450, IIRC. What's more, I believe it (T-55) was going to be in kit form, and that may be a bit rich for some people, considering the relative obscurity & unproven track record of the company in this arena. On the other hand Soviet armor in this scale is as rare as hens teeth, and if HL ever offered one I'd be all over it like flies on honey... 8)

For those interested in what's really going on about the T-55 prior to it's release, I'm in contact with both the owner of Hooben and the electronics manufacturer and this is being covered in our members only section of the RC Tank HQ forum. The electronics manufacturer is answering questions there himself. There's a clue on our news page www.rctankhq.com

 Fair enough Aferg, that type of comment is indicative of why this board has been deserted by manufacturers that used to post here.

huh?

this board has been deserted because 21c is out of business, mike murphy hasn't worked for bbi for years, plus bbi is pretty much out of the 1/18 game and jason and AT are pretty much ancient history too.

What are you saying?..that i shoud be going rah rah let's pay $500 for a tank when we don't have too??

The intent of this board has never been to ass kiss the manufacturers, which seems to be what you are condoaning, with that comment.

I am not sure how this Elephant post turned into a Russian post but I have brought up a possible T-34 but people were not willing to come up up what it would be worth . So I dropped the idea.

Here is the post ,

Here is another one. I have been beating this drum for a while now.
