What Are You Planning to Use for JSI F-14 Pilots?

To those of you who are getting the F-14, what are you going to use for pilot figures? I don't have the F/A-18, so using one or more of that plane's figures is not an option for me. I'll bet I'm not the only one in this position. What are you planning to do?

I've been lucky enough to pick up about 5 bbi jet pilots over the past few years. I did this in the event a manufacturer gave us the jets we've been asking for but no pilots like JSI is doing with the F-14.

The Ace figure from the GI Joe SRO pack makes a pretty good modern jet pilot if you add a good vest and helmet to him.

You can pick up a vest and helmet here when/if they are available:

Hope this helps.

TINMAN:

I was thinking about that this morning---since JSI is releasing other military figures, maybe JSI will release optional pilots in the future just as Hobby Master did.
I read that Merit requested that JSI include pilot figures with the F-14, but maybe that was too late. Perhaps the F-15 and SU-27 might come with pilots and optional F-14 pilots will come later. At $200+, the F-14 should come with pilots.

Thanks, guys. I wonder if the helmet and vest from broken arrow would fit a bbi helicopter pilot. I have lots of those. Might be worth a try.

Tinman,

I have some of the helmets from Broken Arrow and they will fit the bbi helicopter pilots. The helmets are a cast of the bbi F-16/18 pilot helmets.

I don't have the vest but it looks like it should work just fine.

My daughter has these little dolls that are about four inches tall that I was thinking I could use. Their dresses are molded but they might still fit in the cockpits. I'm not really worried about helmets as those would just mess up their hair (which strangely isn't molded).
Come to think of it, I may have to paint the aircraft in pastels just to match the

No pilot nessasary, mine will be on static display. Allready have a designated parking spot. Too heavy to try hangin, nor do I want to take the chance if this thing is almost 15lbs. Thats a lot of money or glue if lucky, if anything go snap!

if i have to i'll use chap mei pilots.....any helmeted head sitting in the cockpit will do.

But for $200 these definitely should have come with a pair of pilots. No excuses.

hey birddog ! How did you manage to gather 5 bbi pilots ???????????

Who is mad enough to sell thoses ?

IMO the F 16 pilot and F 18 pilots are the best figures ....

Here is my solution : dusty trail HALO jumper : i will cut the busts and harms to make a custom pilot ( the helmet end oxygen mask are quite good) the only problem is to find one !!!!

I've got some helmets on order from Brokenarrow toys as well. They cast their own parts to order, so it may take a while for them to ship.

My basic solution to create pilots is to use the Brokenarrow helmets on a couple of the basic BBI Helocopter pilots that I picked up a few years ago. The figures already have the right color green uniform and an acceptable looking vest. The helmet from Brokenarrow will complete the look, especially when painted yellow.

Another custom alternative I've considered is using the arms and legs from the basic BBI helo pilot attached to the torso/vest of the BBI nightstalker figure with the brokenarrow helmet. The nightstalker vest seems pretty close to what fighter pilots wear.

Another is simply to use my F-18 and F-16 pilot in the F-14 as I will probably only have that modern jet out on display at a time due to size and space constraints. My third option is to use a couple 21c F-104 pilots. I have three F-104s, but only display one at a time, leaving two spare pilots.

I think Slip Stream, whom came with the Thunderwing Veneon vs Valor Fighter Jet was as close as Hasbro ever came to a realistic fighter pilot

I hope they come out with some decent pilots come October. Otherwise, I may have to find something better to spend $300 on.

I wonder if JSI and/or Merit are aware that this should be also on their wishlist. It's bad enough that they have stopped including figures, MGs and insignias with their German tanks altogether, but you'd think for a +$200 1/18 AC they would at least include the freakin' figures.

We've been told that WM prices are a thing of the past, yet somehow we're stuck with pricey models with an ever decreasing number of accesories, which is kind of cheap (like BBI not including the rockets with the Hellcat; what are we supposed to do with all those holes—stuff them with boogers? Hmmm... ).

Make them available as an option at least, so they can be bought separately (unlike the rockets, which are nowhere to be seen). So much for cattering to the adult collector in a specialty market niche, I guess.

BTW, does anybody know for a fact which scheme will be produced (high/low visibility)?

Here's a chance for some enterprising individual to make some quick cash by casting up a few resin pilots for us want to haves.

What about the Soldier Force Modern pilot figure?
It's figure is so-so, but it has the correct looking helmet w/ oxygen hose.
They are at Big Lots.
Anyone see these yet?

I saw those on Tuesday, and after lamenting that the soldier force crap was taking over the PTE items, saw the figure you speak of and thought the helmet looked perfect. The rest of the figure sucked, but the head is good for an F-14 pilot.

I caught a lot of grief months ago whern I posted that the JSI F-14 should come with pilots---especially since it would cost over $200. There were posters saying, 'Who needs F-14 pilots?'
Judging by this thread, apparently a lot of collectors need F-14 pilots.
