Badcat---no JSI defect returns

From Badcat's blog:

" JSI F4U and P38 Have Zero Returns

Two weeks after the arrival of the JSI 1:18 Corsair, P-38, and Tiger 1 we have noted something strange; zero returns. That's right zero, zip, nada. These planes left by the score and zero came back. After selling hundreds of these warbirds, we braced for the usual onslot of defectives but the customer service line remained silent. The reason is clear, JSI has its act together right out of the gate and in a big way.

The 1:18 collector crowd is a tough bunch, to say the least. With a general reputation for having the highest return rate of any scale, these discerning collectors strike fear in manufacturers and retailers alike, worldwide. JSI, however, was ready for the challenge by building solid models, spraying excellent paint, and up-armoring the packaging. While these changes are almost certainly responsible for at least some of the price increases, the net result is satisfied customers who are very happy with their purchase! --we love that!

My thanks to everyone who purchased JSI first releases and also to those who have signed-up for the upcoming Tomcat. This warm reception has breathed new life into 1:18 scale, and you guys are responsible!!"

The JSI Corsairs and Tiger tank that I got a close look at in my Hobbytown USA store all had few visible defects. I would potentially be worried about parts breaking off, etc, but if JSI does indeed have their act together, then this should be less of a problem.

QC issues were certainly one of 21c's major foibles and something that other manufacturers (namely BBI) did not seem to have as much of an issue with. JSI seems to be following the BBI example.

I am eagerly anticipating the F-14 and hoping that it will arrive in good order.

me thinks this is just an atta boy to get more F-14 dollars. No business is going to openly publish numerious defects and dissatisfied returns, as that would kill new orders.

JSI IS the factory, since they are putting out their own product, you probably won't see as many QC issues like with 21st.

Yes, retailers shouldn't be allowed to post positive news about the products they sell. They're just trying to unfairly influence the consumer.

Only bad news should be disseminated. And when, on occasion, there happens to be good news about a "new" entrant into a particular market, it should be ignored.

My thoughts were along the same line. They are going to have better QC for themselves as opposed to making them for someone else. Shouldn't be that way, but I have no doubt thats the way it is.

I want them to repaint the P38 in a OD paint scheme. Then I'll buy one. :)

Exactly, let a third party reviewer who's not on the payroll to give thumbs up or thumbs down to a new or existing product.

What's why critics post movie reviews and not the STUDIO

Your missing the main point of Badcats posting, and that was "they" have had no returns and listed the reasons for why they felt that was so. The rest was an opinion. Geez guys don't take everything so literally. It seems the overwhelming atmosphere here is to jump on anything positive and make it a negative. I understand why companies have less interest in producing 1/18 I guess they feel you're "damned if you do, and damned if you don't." Why don't you feel grateful to get anything at all?

I was really surprised by the perfect fit of the wings of the cosair. My other 3- 21st cosairs all have saggy or poorly fitting folding wings. I thought I just got lucky on my JSI corsair but maybe they tweaked that problem as well.

I Think This Is Great News!!!!
First, We have a company willing to produce 1:18th products.
Second, We have a blog from the Cat that says they've had no complaints about JSI's offerings thus far. Whats wrong with this????? NADA! I've been building models as a hobby for almost 40 years  If a vendor tells me they've got a good model and no complaints, I'll look in to it.
Third, what the hell is wrong with GOOD news in this Hobby? :?
Damn sometimes I just don't get it....

I feel that buyers should realize that when a retailer is posting positive news that it is probably also motivated by their goal to sell items.

I'm fine with the announcement ... and I'd let it influence me. But I don't need a Big Brother to protect me from businesses that would like my money. At least not yet. When I'm crazier and more forgetful ... maybe. ;)

OK, I still l don't get it. If a vendor say's this product at this time has had no negative backlash....... why is that Big Brother or someone trying to influence anybody or take their money. :?

If I can find the same thing for less or lower shipping .... I'll go for that. But for anyone to say just because a vendor is giving positive intel on a new product is to boost sales... that's nuts.
The Product Will Speak for it Self......

Big Brother would be the government making it illegal for retailers to try and influence people. I'm all for retailers promoting the products they are selling ... I call it business, and so long as they are truthful, I think it is a positive thing.
