Looks like in the next few months we will have the JSI 1:18th scale F-14 Tomcat. This is awesome news, but this plane will also take up quite a bit of space. Where are you going to display your F-14? Are you going to hang it up in a cool flight mode, or are you going to have it sit on its neat spring loaded landing gear? Either way, she sure will be the talk of anyone who sees her.

Dunno. Really have to make some major modifications to the hangars.

I'm envisioning putting it on my display table. I usually have two WWII aircraft on there and the F-14 will eliminate that space and then some. My other option is to hang the plane, but it will be very heavy and I don't want it crashing down on my head

I might make a aircraft carrier catapult launch section out of wood and display on a self.

years ago i made a six foot long carrier launch section for my BBI F-18, out of an old hinged metal closet door that folded in the middle. The crack down the middle simulated the track for the steam catapult perfectly. Added some cotton baton for steam, looks good.
I may swap out my F-18 for the F-14, if i can get it to fit; width being the concern.

Andrew, as our Mod and someone who knows quite a bite about the figure/toy industry we always like to hear you opinion on the topic. But when it comes to your customs........ got to see 'em! By the way, the Elephant or was it the Ferdinand ? You did was very cool.

it's just a door, six feet long, hinged in the middle, painted dark grey, with the hinge line up the middle covered in a strip of silver duct tape, then sliced so you can see the crack again, with some steam made out of cotton and my f-18 plunked on top of it. Not a big deal or difficult to make, but looks spiffy. My camera is misbehaving right now. Door is about 22 inches wide. I set it on top of an end table and angled it relative to the wall it is beside, so it simulates the angle deck of a carrier...
It was a Ferdinand, Normandy.
