Question for those with California Cutie P-38

So I finally unboxed mine after about a year in the box and noticed it has these "streaks" across the top of the wings near the canopy. There is one one each side going diagonally back. It sort of looks like a manufacturing error, but it might be bad weathering? Any of you have the same thing - is it suppossed to be weathering?
thanks,
Phil

I'd say, in this case, it's simply bad weathering.

weird...no, my P-38 doesn't have any streaks. Does have some strange lumps under the paint though, port side of the rear glass

PCOUGHRAN:
My California Cutie has the streaks on the wings along side the cockpit, too. This was discussed on SSHQ a long time ago and was attributed to being bad weathering.

That is a little dissapointing.I have all the P-38's,except for Haleakala?,and California Cutie.
Any hints on how to avoid the ones with QC issues,or is it really hit and miss?
Shame to spend that amount of money, and get stuck with a lemon.

I found that most of the bad flaws were around the nose guns. so look there first. then back of the canopy

It is bad weathering. It is supposed to be work paint along the parts of the fuselage where the pilots & ground crew walked to get in the plane, refuel it, etc.

Yeah, the more I look at it the more it looks like bad weathering. It's funny because the rest of the plane looks like it was just painted/right off the factory floor. In general, it seems most of 21st Century stuff had no weathering on it - everything looks like it came off the assembly line new. I like BBI's painting with much more "used" look on their aircraft.
Maybe JSI's painting will give it a more worn look (like the new Pappy Corsair).

Mine are still in the box as well.
I have never even looked at them.
