Looking good. How deep/rich can you get a colour tone. Is clean up pretty easy? Looks like the flash is pretty thin and could just be brushed off. You must've had a beer after pulling that one from the mould 8)

Yes I did.I cast it anyway. It is a copy of the 21st Panzer track. This means that I can copy or make a track and it will go around curves. This opens all kind of doors.

Tracks
amo belts
tie straps
bungie cords
tires
plyable helmets
rubber hoses

This is a VERY GOOD THING.

Yes it is as a matter of fact.

Actually it is resin. I do were latex gloves but some times you need to take them off to try and get the details brushed in. It builds up so thick that my hands look like base ball gloves. No problem though when it builds up that thick I just beat it off with a hammer and keep on pouring.

You might want to patent/copyright your idea. Quick as you can.

Very nice Pickel...... it is good to see your talents expanding.

Oh and dandaman there is no need to patent or copyright its been around I just never thought about it being used for tracks. There was a guy on another board that used this stuff to make robes, belts, goggels and other misc stufff. It is most definetly durable enough just not real sure of the life of it though as in say 10 years from now.

How will the ends be connected together or can it be made in a continuous loop? Is it stretchy at all, can it be stretched over the drive sprockets?

I have not gotten that far. The rubber does stick to itself so I could use that. Yes it will bend around the ideler and main drive.
It is just like rubber you can cut the flash off with scissors. and splice or pin them together.

This section is about 8 1/2 inches long so it will take about 3 pieces to make a full track.

It would be tough to make it one long piece I guess it could be done. But that would be a lot of RTV.

I just got this stuff to try it out and was surprised on how well it worked.

I can get black or brown coloring to tint the rubber. But I have used black resin before but it does have its issues. You can not see through it. That is a problem because you can not see the airbubbles in it to paint them out.

But this worked so well I had to release the doves and spread the word through out the land. :D

8) discovery. I'm sure you'll be putting this find to very good use in future armor pieces.

NICE! I could definitely use some for the panzer IV. btw, is that Smooth-On your using for it? They're definitely my favorite company for moldmaking and casting materials and you can get their urethane in all different shore hardness and pretty much mix any color you want. Worth checking out if you're not familiar with them...
