Realistic 3 3/4" Military lines from the 80s

Post by Fritzkrieg » Sun Jun 21, 2009 6:19 pm

I remeber in the early 1980s Lionel Playworld had a realistic military line. They were packaged with a #1 as the cardback. I believe that had some female service women in the line. Does anyone else recall these, and remember what the line was called.

I don't remember what the line was called, but I do remember them. I don't know how "realistic" they would be compared to today's standards.

The figures were pretty clunky as I recall, you could move the arms up and down, and the legs up and down, that's it.

I think they had a service woman, a sailor, and a couple others. It was completely random.

By realist, I mean not made-up, like GI Joe. I don't think thay were to bad for the time, compared to others around that time. I know there were a couple of military lines out at the same time. Sgt. Rock and MASH were out around the same time, but for some reason I can not find a reference for these figures.

Sounds like they were similar to the initial Action Force line.

Fritzkrieg, have you asked over at joecustoms yet? They're usually great at identi-fun on vintage figures. I'm pretty good on the vintage knowledge and I'm drawing a total blank on a #1 shaped cardback, were they the Remco American Forces figures? http://actionfiguresca.proboards.com/in ... hread=1056

Does anyone remember a MASH figure in the 80’s? I remember walking into a K-b toy store and seeing the figure with helicopters and jeeps. I begged my dad but to no avail.

i can't find any information about 'military one' on the internet. Never heard of them before.

FYI these figures were 3 1/4 inch, not 3 3/4 inch....so just over 1/24 scale.

The M*A*S*H* line was before my time, but i still think that 21st should have did an H-13 instead of the F-104.

If you were not able to find anything on the net, how are you sure their not 3 3/4"? I remember them being pretty close to Star Wars scale.

package in auction photo says 3-3/4" and I've also not been able to track down any online info, even when searching for the mfr. pocket play inc. Really interesting to see these though as I've never even heard of them before.

The huge MASH playset has some really amazing accessories that come with it such as 1/18 typewriter, I wish someone who has one would make some castings to sell.

EDIT/Updated: here's a link to a post on joecustoms that has photos and lists of all the great 1/18 accessories that come with the base. http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewto ... se#p101680

The sculpting is not that great by today's standards, but they did offer some uniform options not seen in this scale, since

really not bad sculpts for the early 80's. Certainly some usable stuff if they can be found for a reasonable price still.

Has anyone seen one of these in person? Is it really bad?

the females are probably all the same, just repaints in different colours. Still neat figures though.

Quite a cool line...too bad there are no pics on that site.
