I had two planes on order from MD during the sale back in Feb, but the first thing I unboxed was the Me 262B nightfighter - gorgeous! And only $28

The S1 P-51D.

I stopped by a TRU way out of my area in October of 2000 while heading home on a roadtrip. I was looking for the newest GI Joe re-releases and instead I found a huge P-51 and ME-109

A couple weeks later, I got the ME-109 at one of my local TRUs - but held off on the armor and figures. It wasn't until they released the Vietnam line the next year that I got my first armor, helicopter and figures. It was in 2002 when I really became the completist, grabbing up all the figures that I could find to crew the Tiger, M-41 and halftracks. Not to mention the fact that I also got the P-38, Stuka, and Corsair.

After the brief haiatus when 21c had their first financial, my collecting sort of snowballed :P

The S1 Sherman and Panther. I had come across an ebay listing for the Sherman and was blown away. The auction mentioned TRU's. So I headed over and found the Sherman and the Panther that I wasn't even aware of. I was shocked to find they were being sold there as I regularly shopped TRU's for 1/18 diecast cars and had never noticed them.

My first thing XD was a lone German soldier. I named him Kurt. Then Tankgirl got me the S1 Mustang and the ME109. 8) It was all down hill from there. :D

Just started collecting 1/72nd diecast aircraft and my job at the time was traveling all over the state delivering meds. My uncle asked if I could start checking out walmarts here and there for these 1:18th scale tanks and planes for him. First target store was 28th street wm in Kentwood Mi. Walked out with 2 series 1 FW-190Ds, and 1 invasion striped Spitfire. Uncle Kurt only got 1 of the Doras. That was the end of diecast and the beggining of a new era in spending that still continues.[/b]

Way back TRU had a "Sidewalk Sale" and I spotted the S1 Tiger, S1 Sherman, and Jeep. Had to have them, so I bought them and then went back a few days later and bought a set of troops. And then went back later and bought..............and bought...............and bought............SALE.......bought more................
Then Walmart got into the picture and the buying continued!

I learned about XD through the 1/32 ads. The first items were the Panther and Kubelwagon, shortly followed by the Sherman and Jeep, and the series 1 troops. All of these were purchased at TRU ten years ago. Time does fly when you are having fun!

S1 P-51 and then I ordered the S1 109 from the fan club because TRU sold out of them. all of the planes were originally hanging in my sons bedroom, but thankfully he out grew them and doesn't want them there any more. Now there is no hiding the fact that any new one is for me and not my son.

The Razorback P-47 in the Motorworks box. The one with the checkered tale white #17. I left it alone for years but just recently got it out of the box and began tearing it apart to improve as much as possible. Scratch building new gear doors, lowering the front canopy profile at least half an inch to make it look level, adding gunsight, will try to find wider main gear tires. Will also eliminate the hinched tailwheel door setup, seal up the seem gaps in the fusalage and a ton of other things. Then repaint as needed. Very long term off and on project.
