Ben Hur trailer and M3A1 White Scout car in the near future

Post by pickelhaube » Wed Jun 03, 2009 10:41 am

There have been some guys who want me to do a BenHur Trailer and M3A1 White Scout Car.

The trailer is a single axel job that will fit behind the halftrack , Duce and a half and the White Scout.

The White Scout Car front half is the half track. I can make it 2 ways an add on kit or a full truck. Monkey D is selling the half tracks for $12 this is half of the truck. But the one they are selling has the PTO winch not the roller. I have the roller already.

Ben Hur trailer aprx $75

White Scout aprx $75-$100

Any interest ?

I would be inclined to say scout car.
I just found that what I need is an m10 trailer for ammo on my m7.

A scout car would be awesome.

I've got the 1:6 one, but it's just too big to display.

A very nice conversion from half-track to scout car. My custom, made by one of our great customizers:

Sitting next to the Scout Car is a 1/16 Rocket Launcher Jeep (Danbury Mint)...... another interesting model for Pickel to consider.

True, but as we don't have any Deuce, we can put it behind a M3

Besides the duece (which we don't have), what we do have is 1 1/2 to Dodges and 3/4 Dodges which did use the Ben Hur trailer.

Count me in for a Scout Car and a Ben Hur trailer.

I have gotten a lot of feedback for the Ben Hur trailer and the Scout car. So I am going to do them. I think as I am working on the M-10.

Does anybody know if they made a 1/35 or 1/32 model of the trailer ?

If there is anybody interested in the White Scout car get your half track from the Monkey. You will need it and they are cheap and selling fast.I have a bunch coming in for this conversion.

The cheap ones at MD are M-16's with the winch on the front.

The White Scout Car all had rollers on the front. The 21C half tracks with rollers were the personnel carriers and they don't seem cheap anymore.

Kind of like the Panzer disappearing when Pickel comes out with the flak turret...... some times you just can't win....

I just got my half tracks and trailers from the Monkey.

I was going to use the wheels off the quad trailer for the Ben Hur but they need some work. The backs are not right . As is , they will be impossible to cast so I need to rework them.

Also the only Ben Hur trailer that I can get my hands on is down in Australia. It is also the water buffalo trailer. There are a couple of guys who want this as well so I will be doing the water buffalo version.

I have orderd a White Scout car from my local hobby shop. Hopefully it will be in next Thur. Hopefully that will give me enough time to finish the flaks.

I will be working on this project AS I MAKE THE M-10 MOULDS . :D

Well , bad news for the Ben Hur trailer.

I had my eye on one on ebay for a buy it now. I dragged my feet and someone bid on it.

It was going off at 4 in the morn so I bid on it 5 more dollars than the buy it now was . I woke up this morn checked it out and I was out bid    .

So the trailer will be on hold until I can get a model of it. If that happens. I could try to build it from pics but I am note sure how close to scale that it would be. I can get it close.

None of my stuff is crazy exact . When I scale something I use stock styreen. If it is within a mm or two I will use it. It is real hard to get a 3.5 mm tube so if I have one at 3 mm or 4mm I will use what I have.

So I could get the trailer close as I can or wait and wait to see if another one may come up for sale.

Thoughts ?

you may wait for a long time searching for another kit. As far as I am concerned, I can deal with a "as close as" model.

Well I am not sure what happened but the seller came back with a second chance offer on the trailer. So got it !!!

It will cost over $40 for the model and the trailer to come from Australia.

So because of that the BenHur trailer is back on. :D

Matthew, I gather that the Ben Hur trailer went onto the back burner, or was it just dropped altogether? I am curious, as I am interested in one or two of them.

Well I tell you there really was not a lot of interest when I through this out about 9 years ago.

Was going to start this at the time but moved onto the 222 .

There are a whole bunch of projects that I will like to do after the HIND.
