Not too excited

Post by pathfinder44 » Tue May 26, 2009 1:32 pm

While it is nice to see that JSI is coming out with new variants of the same old 1:18 vehicles I am not too excited.

What would excite me?

U.S. :
M-5 Stuart
M-18 Hellcat
2-1/2 ton Truck
105MM Howitzer

German:
Schwimwagen
10.5CM Howitzer
King Tiger (of course!)
Stug III

Anyone concur?

Ken

I concur.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

I am just excited that they are trying to keep 1/18th scale alive. Now when they release that F-15, I will be VERY excited! :D
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

I think the M16 is a colossal waste of time and resources. While i like the SdKfz 251/20 Uhu what's the point if they don't release a correspondingly-equipped Panther?

A SdKfz 7 or a FAMO would be nice, but i'm not certain that JSI has any intention of doing new WWII items.

What about the Sdkfz 251/9?
I was actually making my own which I will now scrap. :x

I can't say I concur... Not totally anyway.

While I'd love some new stuff like listed, I'm also geeked to see Tigers and Panthers with Zimmerit, Hanomag variants that were pretty common, a Sherman variant that was pretty common, etc... Honestly I'd like to see more even. I'd love to see a Tank Destroyer US halftrack, or mortar carrier. I'd dig seeing any number of Sherman variants... I'm down for that kind of stuff. Hell just seeing figures pictured was a shot in the arm to me.

New stuff's nice, and seeing a KT, or 88 in grey would've been neat... But for now, I like seeing that this company IS looking to the future and putting out stuff we don't have. That's all good to me.

I'd say I'd add a Kubelwaggen to the list of what I'd like to see that's "new". The old one is not an easy find for many, the mold isgone, and ultimatelY i'd like to see an even better model put out... Something with a working top would be extra slick and possible, but I'm not hopeful of that getting done. ;) A Jeep and Kubel would both be well received right now though I think, and both have a lot of deco options and whatnot.

I think the Sdkfz 7 would be great, especially for use with the 88.
The 9 would be very nice, but I think too big for anyone to bother making.
For a ground vehicle anyway.

I am excited about JSI's proposed 1:18 scale modern jets. I am excited about the modifications to some of the armored vehicles. I agree that the rest is not very original from a certain point of view, but there are some great paint schemes on the existing moulds!

i think it's exciting just that someone is picking up the ball after the loss of 21c. And on top of that to be modifying existing molds PLUS coming out with 3 new modern jets is fantastic, especially given the times we've been going through.

I wouldn't scrap you stummel yet smittyrob, maybe put it on hold, but these things are far from a reality still.

I'm looking at it this way...

It cannot possibly be worse barring absurd prices or impossible availability.

21st wasn't the best run business IMO, and had their problems they chose never to address. They fell prey to hard times, but they also didn't have the best of times going for themselves in the GOOD times.

That said, I think it's positive that A) someone picked up the ball as Aferg mentioned, but also that they've got a mapwork of what not to do, and hopefully they follow it and avoid the pitfalls 21st did not... That'd be really nice. ;)

while 1/18 items are good, the reissues are yawners, I'm more excited to see what 1/16 is doing with tanks and stuff.

Plenty of stuff coming in 1/16.
I'd like to see more halftracks there too.

I concur. While I'm glad 1:18 appears to be brought back from the brink, unless it's like Panzer repaints (non RC), I'm ready for some new stuff.

I'd love a Deuce 1/2 and would buy more than one for sure, and any variations of it like an airfield fuel truck.
A Howitzer in 1:18 for it to tow would be awesome.
I would also want a 1:18 Opel Truck for the enemy convoys, and the schwimwagen for the officers.

A Stuart, and while they're at it a Grant tanks.
Of course the King Tiger.

Of the list, I think the M-18 Hellcat would be really cool. The interior would really set it appart.
