r/c B-25 coming with gun nose

Post by aferguson » Mon May 25, 2009 9:02 am

the Flying Styro B-25J i've talked about on here is being reissued with a gun nose. It's about 1/17.2 scale and quite nice. Comes prepainted, with decals, some assembly required. Probably be over $200.

For a foam model, that looks very good. I'd like to see how accurate the underside, and wing cross-section are. If JSI or anyone comes out with a more detailed version, it certainly will be $200 or more.

You know if that's 1:18 it doesn't look like it would be that much bigger or as complicated as the JSI Tomcat.

They need to drag out that mold they were supposedly working on and finish it.

This is one of my pics from my last trip to the USS Alabama. It looks remarkably just like the model.

unknown......you can buy it direct from czech, i think. Probably $200+. The glass nose version is at Hobby Lobby but it's over $300 now and they dont have the gun nose in stock. Probably cheapest to order direct. Get the full detailed kit, costs more but comes with full cockpit, all guns etc.

My mistake I just noticed the one at hobbylobby.com was different from the one posted.

Still a good looking aircraft.

hobby lobby is pretty expensive now. They do have the odd sale. I got the full detail glass nose b25 for $219 a year and a half ago. That was 25% off at the time. They don't seem to be stocking the newer FSK kits so they may not get the gun nose version in.

This is the same company that is rumoured to be coming out with a Heinkel 111 this year. If true it will probably have a 4 foot span and if so, be nearly perfect 1/18.

The B-25 is a tad overscale at around 1/17.3

If you find some links on these for sale anywhere please post them up. I would most definetly like to have one of these of course mine would be a static model only. Just like all the 21st RC stuff I own.

it will come very nicely painted but if you want to repaint it you can but be very careful. Most paints eat styrofoam. Many water based paints are safe but i've heard tell that even the propellent in acrylic spray paints can eat foam, so test on a scrap piece of foam before painting.

I don't know of any north american dealers for FSK except Hobby Lobby....and i'm not sure they will be getting new FSK in. If i buy one i will contact the guy who posted the pictures and buy from him as he is a sales rep for FSK. He is based in the Czech Republic. He has promised much lower prices than Hobby Lobby but i've never bought from him so i don't know how much lower.

a new shop has opened up that sells Flying Styro models, including the B-25. It's based in europe but prices are very good. Figure about $40 for shipping and prices are still very good, as compared to a US based etailer like Hobby Lobby.

They have the regular B-25 for around $150. The gun nose will probably be on soon. It says it's 1/13 scale but it's really about 1/17.

The site is brand new so there may be some bugs to work out.

They've also got the Ju-88 which isn't even available over here. If you don't mind it being a bit overscale (it's about 1/15.5 scale) then it's a good price too.

How about the 110...........
http://www.fsk-warbirds.eu/detail_messe ... _7?lang=en

and they've got an A-10 for all you guys that wanting one.

I'm noticing the scales on some aircraft are 1:13 and 1:17 on others :? are they all around 1:17th?

the 110 is 1/13 scale and is thus, huge. There's a very nice mosquito which is also 1/13 so i never bothered to get it.

The A-10 is quite nice and is around 1/17. That also has a good price on it, now.

I really like the weathering done on this one - if I had one I would be inclined to at least dullcote it. Having the type of foam it has, there isn't the usual orange skin seen on other foam models, but it is way shiny.

most paints available, that won't eat fpam tend to have a sheen because they are usually for decorative use.

RC guys are usually reluctant to dullcote because of drag and weight.
