3 years ago--1/18 Bush Avenger

Post by dragon53 » Sun May 17, 2009 1:36 pm

Three years ago, May, 2006, 21st Century announced the 1/18 George Bush TBM Avenger.
If JSI has the Avenger mold, it would be great to finally see the Bush Avenger---and maybe JSI could improve the mold and fix the sagging wings.

I know isn't that crappy how 21st Century would do this? Look they even had the special box. Geez who ran this company?
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

A nut, that't who. I heard from a credible source that the CEO of 21c was never really that great of a businessman and had tactually run a couple other toy companies into the ground beforehand. There were lots of questionable decisions made on his part, both concerning product development and marketing. 21c never really catered to its collector fan base and never really seemed to realize that it was dealing with a specialty product that only appealed to a small sector of the market. 21c also did not tend to take care of its retailers, whether they were a small internet company or a larger brick and mortar store.

The Bush Avenger simply must join the long list of 21c products that were proposed, but never produced. Sad, as it porbably would have been the most popular of the Avengers, and had it been released at Wal Mart instead of the Atlantic version, the Avenger just might have sold well.

Yep, The box art was all done and even had to be approved by Former President Bush Sr. himself. It really was a cool box art, one that I really wished would have seen the light of day!

Cryin' friggin' shame. That scheme is beautiful and IMO MUCH BETTER than the rest of the TBF's. This scheme is what I considered the quintessential TBF scheme. Just my .02

The $64,000 question:
Is there a chance JSI will release the Bush Avenger?

I sure hope so. I proudly have all of the Avenger schemes to include each of the Flight 19 Avengers and would love to have the Bush Avenger. But, Im not holding my breath as they seem to be a little preoccupied on larger modern aircraft.

I definitely would have liked to have had this one. Though an early 1942 -1943 blue scheme would be my first choice.

Was there any difference aside from the markings in the blue camo scheme used on this one and the Bunker Hill Avenger? It looks the same or pretty close in that respect.
