I have a commission in progress. It is converting a 1929/31 Forn pickup to a Russian Gaz-AA.
The Gaz truck was the back bone of the Russian Army in WW2. Over 150,00 were built under licensed of Ford.
The Gaz supplied Leningrad while it was under siege.
Here is a 1/18 model. Take off the spare tire put some Indy wheels on it make a new bed and you have a Gaz.

Here is what it looks like in 1/35 kit form.

Here is one built in 1/35 with canvas top.

Without Russians to put in it, I don't see the point, but I'm more a figure guy.

Doesn't the Indy line have Ruskies ?

Yes, but they need some work, and Guns, to make them WWII proper. Maybe JSI will plug in some of the holes 21st left, and make some proper WWII Russians.

I don't see the point without Ruskie armor or planes. Then you get into the area of major construction (wheels, tracks, bodies, or plane bodies & wings) for relatively few sales.

i made one of those into a katyusha years ago.
Lots of need for russian stuff. The russian-german war was a HUGE part of WWII and pretty much the most important part.
That said, if i wanted the gaz aa truck i would make it myself.
The world needs a T-34 in 1/18 scale.

I second that.
My Germans need something to shoot at.

Great work! I picked up 3 diecast '36 Ford trucks for a song on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I took the first apart and started painting it tonight as a test to create some period-correct WWII airfield equipment.

I ran this over a year ago. Time to dust it off and see if there was any more interest.
When I ran it there were more nay's than yay's
Here are a few pics of Robbie's finished GAZ - AA
The GAZ was the Russian prime support truck.
Too bad I can not find pics of the front of the truck.
With a Russian tank you need to have support vehicals.
Any new found interest in this ? It will come with a figure or 2

Now that rocket launcher would be cool.
I could do ( if there was interest ) the GAZ AAA . The twin rear wheeled version into a rocket launcher. Stalins Organ.
That would be cool.
Any interest in that ?

Doh, I just realized you meant pics of the front of Robbie's truck not the Gaz itself.

I am seriously thinking of going on a Russian tangent.
Is this the way to go or am I going down the wrong path ?
Plastic Boy and I are getting together and as soon as I have something to send him he will start on a line of Russian figures to go with these models.
You guys have seen his work .
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=22516&start=25
I hope my stuff will not look like toys next to his figures
So if the big guys will not make it WE will step up to the plate !!!

Hey you did a great truck, and to me the eastern front was WWII with all the rest kind of a sideshow. I would promote the growth of any further projects in that direction, personally I have limited my collecting n 1/18 to aircraft but even if I were still pursuing a 1/18 armor collection I would say that though this is a cool mod there are much bigger Russian fish to fry. You did an awesome job on the T-34 and of course I could say do the KV line but something that would be remarkable is something from the early years like the T-35, a very hard project but there are no large scale models I have seen of it an hey five turrets! But I say do the Horton!
