really neat collection - sorry to hear the owner needs the money for medical bills - it's a shame

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I have been e-mailing with this seller sine the auction first began - I live a long days drive away and have been thinking of buying this lot, keeping the two or three aircraft I wanted and posting the remainder for sale on the board at reasonable prices. He now seems interested in selling them individually, and I've directed him to the board and given some information on how to best sell these at fair prices. So he MAY show up here, it's hard to tell. Just a heads up.

I haven't made any offers or bought anything from him, I don't think he's decided what he wants to do.

Suspicious

Post by evilanimation » Fri May 15, 2009 6:46 pm

Suspicious, wanna bet that didn't really happen but someone contacted him asking to purchase just those for a good price, knowing that the others would still sell high.

WOAH! The deal just went sour! The 3 most valuable planes crushed and yet he is not changing the price? Hmmm, what are the chances they will be magically healed and turn up on e-bay individually? Seems awfully coincidental to me. If I was a buyer I would ask for pictures of the demolished planes. If he is a straight shooter he would be happy to provide pictures, if not then I would be running far, far away from this seller

YA

Post by evilanimation » Fri May 15, 2009 7:14 pm

Ya it says they went straight to the trash, he could have sold the parts of those plans and someone would have bought them.

You won't see those planes relisted and you won't see photos of damaged planes. They are destined for a new home - I would bet on it.

So basically he is saying, "I think you all morons and I am a liar. But, hey you can trust me." If he is clever, which he certainly doesn't appear to be, he will not get anywhere near this forum.

Yeah, the whole thing makes me uncomfortable. He posted he was selling because it's his fathers collection, the father recently died, they need the money, etc and I could understand because I recently lost my father in law and not too long ago, my mother. But over several e-mails I had been answering his questions, trying to help him name fair prices, etc and slowly his story changed from 'must sell all as a lot - pickup only' to 'will sell individually if I get offers' to 'how can I sell these the fastest way possible'. All I provided was information, but somehow I feel like I was taken advantage of. There's a sucker born every minute, and I guess this was my minute. Maybe I should lay off XD for a while.

Don't lay off xd, just lay off e-bay. There are so many unscrupulous sellers I can't hardly bring myself to wade through all the crap to find a decent seller.

Planes

Post by thehun » Sat May 16, 2009 7:03 pm

Well now i knew this boys Dad, We had several big Transactions a while back, He was big into 1/18 then moved into 1/6 scale, I done some work for him on a few projects, and bought about 25 1/18 tanks from him when he moved up to 1/6 scale, we never talked about aircraft very much, I know he was a pilot and a very nice guy to deal with, also a straight shooter, BUT i don't know about his son, I'm pretty sure those jets have a new home now, and it ain't in a trash can, I really hate to think a under the table deal was done, Because Donnie was not this type of person, But it makes you wonder about Donnie Jr????? :?

Obviously Donnie SR. has been a good seller. You don't get over 1000 pos feedback and 100% by scamming people. I am a power seller with over a thousand feedback and 100%. I always deal honestly and fairly. I have also bought 100s of items with hardly a problem. There are bad apples in every bunch but I don't let that ruin everthing.

Yeah, I think someone whispered sweet nothings in his ear about the value of some of these planes in order to prevent him from selling them wholesale, and then he went crazy and thought that suddenly he could demand top dollar for them individually. I agree flayrah, not many will sell at the price he's asking for them.
