M3 Half track tank destroyer in 1/18 scale

Post by pickelhaube » Fri May 08, 2009 3:22 pm

Time for another custom possibility.

Mr. Pierce brought this up today. He was the driving force behind the M-113 upgrade and the CIP panels as well as push me to doing the M-10.

He would love to have one of these tank destroyers.

The M3a half track can be used and they are still available.

Does the world need this ?

Like this mod my Dad did last year. (I hope the link still works)

Also the Kelly's Heroes 1/2 track is a 105mm Howitzer Motor Carriage. The models shown are 75mm Gun Motor Carriages. Different gun and shield.

I bumped this and put a poll on the post

Mr. Pierce really wants this and there will be a very good possiblility that it will be done.

In the not so near future.

I'm up for one.

FYI: The gun for the 75mm TD were recycled WW1 French 75mm artillery pieces added to the M3 halftrack as a stop gap anti-tank weapon at the start of WW2.

Hasbro made one in 1/6, but alas, the Hasbro is under scale. That don't stop alot of guys looking for one........ like me.

A 1/18 TD would suit me fine.

Hell yeah! North Africa baybee! That would be perfect to turn my plain M3 into something much more interesting!
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.
