BBI masterpiece model

Post by snake » Sat May 02, 2009 11:09 pm

What would you consider to be the best model that BBI has produced so far?
Hopefully, with the "demise"of 21C,BBI will fill some of that void.
For myself,I am voting for the 1:18 F-18 "Red Devils".Not the rarest, but the best looking one in my opinion, and my personal favourite.
F-16 Air National Guard is a close second.
Let the discussion begin.

The F/A-18C Hornet in every paint scheme, for the sheer number of "Holy Crap that's awesome!" comments that I get from friends.

Out of my entire collection, the first comments I get are always directed at the Hornet. It may not have the cockpit detail, or movable control surfaces, but its sheer size, weathered paint and stance, detailed pilot and ordinance just scream coolness.

I'm still a sucker for my "Cat Mouth" Hellcat and Marines Checkered Corsair though

My pick for BBI's masterpiece is their 1/32 F-4J Phantom. It may not be as big as the others...Okay it's most likely the same length as the 1/18 BF109, etc but seriously, in proportion to scale, the F-4 is better detailed than any 1/18 plane BBI or AT or 21st has produced. From a distance of let's say 10 feet you would almost (I repeat, almost) think it's a Tamiya build. One other thing it has going for it? It's painted in VF-84 Jolly Rogers livery. When BBI wanted to make a splash with a plane they hit the ground running hard picking perhaps the most famous fighter squadron of all time. The only thing they could do to top the VF-84 scheme would be to retool the F-4's nose to make it a B model and give us a VF-111 Sundowners scheme!!

This was an easy pick for me.

I like the F-16, even if it's a bit out of scale.

That would definately have to be the F-18. Ounce for ounce the largest 1:18 scale aircraft made. You talk about in impact model, that would be it.

My choice is the 1/32 F-4J---I wish BBI had released it in the VF-84 Jolly Rogers F-4B instead of the F-4J because the F-4B had combat history in Vietnam---and would have allowed for repaints such as Steve Ritchie's F-4D and Robin Olds' F-4C.

Their S1 Corsair, "Marine's Dream" It may be a somewhat fictitious airshow scheme, but it simply looks perfect on the BBI plane.

My second favorite would be the S1 F-16 "Wolfpack"

In the 1:32nd category, the F-4 wins out hands down, but this thread is about the 1:18 aircraft
