Bravo Team vs. BBI et al.

I know Unimax makes some of the same armor BBI and 21c does (did). How do the Unimax FOV/Bravo Team armor pieces compare to the same pieces made by others?

The Unmiax stuff is obviously more toy-like, but they generally are a different version, or feature something the others don't (zimmerit on the Tiger, a fully rotating maxon on their M16).

the unimax stuff is definitely more toy like and has fewer operating features like hatches, the tow launcher on the bradley etc but it's still pretty nice and with a bit of customizing/painting can be quite nice. For the price they're excellent and this type of basic, slighty toyish armour is probably our best hope for new 1/18 pieces going forward. Even more extreme into the toy like realm, is the power team and chap mei vehicles but they too are our hope for the future, i think.

Thanks for the feedback. On the advice of a board member, I went into a Target this morning looking for Bravo team modern US figures. They are as good as promised and just the thing for the modern Middle East dio I'm collecting for.
While I was there, I picked up an Abrahms and a Sherman. I haven't opened either yet. Looking through the box, the Abrahms actually looks pretty good. The Sherman does look a little toy-ish, though.
I'd be interested in seeing pics of paint work done on the Unimax Sherman, as I can see what you mean about how that might well improve it.

From what I've heard most folks seem to prefer the Unimax Abrams over the Bbi one.

Last year, I saw the BBI Abrams and FOV Abrams side by side at Target. The FOV Abrams was the better model, so I bought it.
Here are some great photos comparing the BBI vs. FOV Abrams previously posted:

The Unimax (FOV) Abrams is the best over the BBI one. It has a much better paint scheme, for one, and pretty much the same features. The Unimax Bradley looks good, but is very toylike when comparted to the old 21c version. Both Unimax vehicles can be made into excellent-looking models with only a tiny bit of work. The Unimax modern figures are great as also are the BBI ones. Unimax currently makes standard Army and USMC figures, while BBI tends to only make Special Ops figures.

Thanks -- very informative. I picked up the FOV Bradley on eBay recently, and the weathering is great, as is the weathering on the M1. But they both look a little too GREEN. The actual desert tan on the BBi looks more accurate. Has anyone noticed that?

I see we're both in Houston. I suggest you try Target for your next FOV models because you might save on the shipping costs. About a month ago, I saw the FOV 1/18 Bradley-desert paint (along with other FOV 1/18 vehicles) at the Target at Meyerland Plaza in Bellaire.

Thanks for tip, but I figured that out -- painfully -- for myself yesterday. I bought a Sherman at target for under $30 ... and received the FOV Sherman I'd bought on Bay that afternoon. With shipping, the latter was $20 more. Ouch.
Having been reading the posts here about the demise of 21C, I got the wrong-headed impression that no 1/18 stuff other than a few figures was available in retail stores. The current issue FOV armor is an exception, I see.
Are BBi aircraft available in any retail stores?

Target has the BBI 1/18 P-51 "Donald Duck" on clearance at $35. I have this P-51 and it's really good model.
I was at a Houston ToysRUs about 4-5 months ago and all they had was BBI figures and some 21st Century 1/18 and 1-32 models.

I like both lines. Has anyone seen, or heard any news, about the new Bravo team Special Forces figures?
