Very nice!
I have a question about Skyworks Aircraft. Are these just 21st C. Repaints, or are they newly sculpted models? I've never seen one up close, but for the price I asume the quality, is very high.

I believe they are Pro-Built customs made from 21c planes.

no they are completely made from scratch....like Pickel's customs.

The plane in the background is obviously a Spitfire. Never seen the plane in the foreground. What is it?

many of the mk xiv's had normal wingtips and the usual non-bubble canopy but some had the bubble canopy shown. The clipped wingtips were on a small number of mk xiv's for better low altitute handling....many spitfire variants had clipped wingtips in fact.
It was bubble canopies like these on spitfires and typhoons that inspired the americans to try them on their mustangs and thunderbolts.

That looks incredible, but with the issues I have with my ME 163, i would be hesitant to spend that kind of $$$.

To me the Spitfire XIV nose does not look to right , look to short
Looks like it has the same engine profile as the Spitfire Mk 1 but the Spitfire Mk 14 had a different engine

Tell us more, or is that covered in another thread? Not looking for bashing, just want to understand what the issues were. Thx

Asolutely beautiful. I have Spitfire envy, I still don't even have a 21st version.

nose looks right to me. The griffon engined spitfire nose was a bit bulkier than merlin engined spits.

Upon initial inspection, plane was great. Then I realized the tail wheel was missing. Looked in the box and it had broken off in shipping - the bubble wrap was wrapped too tight. A few emails and several weeks later they sent a replacement - but it was the wrong one. So I gave up on that. Then about a month later, the wife was dusting and picked the plane up to dust underneath it and the little wheeled trolley fell off the plane (it didn't fit very well) and fell like 3-4 feet and landed on carpet - the result another broken wheel. While trying to repair that wheel - I noticed one of the stickers was falling off. Also, the little propeller in the front doesnt fit in its hole. For the price I am fairly disappointed.I don't think any of this was MTS's fault. I have bought lots of stuff from them with never a problem. I guess Skyworks has fixed the sticker issue - but that doesn't help me. I know the plane is not a toy but it is extremely fragile. I am afraid to touch it at this point.

The actual body of the plane is great and very solid - it is all the extras - propellers, wheels, stickers etc that seem to be breaking. It's frustrating. This will sound weird but I am still kind of glad I bought it because I love German jet fighters and this is the only ME 163 around in 1/18 th scale and it is not outrageously expensive (350 dollars + shipping). I just wish it didn't have multiple issues. That Spit is sweet but I expect alot for that kind of cash and don't feel I got my money's worth on the 163. If they make a HE 162 I may risk it though. Hope that helps. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and maybe mine got made on Friday at 5 or something. I am sure others have had no problems. Guess I'm just lucky like that.
