So that's for real? What does that badge mean? Can soldiers wear badges like that and not be chastised by their superior officers?

The problem wouldn't really come from the "superior officer," the wearing of patches like that needs to be in the regulations, or not specifically outlined within the regs to allow a certain degree of liberty to be taken on a unit by unit basis.
I'm guessing that is a one off thing to show in promotion of that site or it means something else entirely. The patch isn't even straight or centered though. That will get you in trouble depending on what mood folks are in on a particular day.

The patches are non-regulation, so that was taken as a one off deal. The girl is actually shown in their customers section.

The other yahoos look like they are special forces due to the non-regulation facial hair, but their girl can't be part of that. They look air force. They are wearing the medical badge so they must be pararescue. I didn't know women could do that... maybe not. She's wearing a flight suit so she's probably just the chopper gunner.

Yeah, sure. The patch on her sleeve.
(Where’s the drooling icon, BTW?)

Okay, guess where the patches go here.

Seriously though...

But seriously though, what would a superior officer do if some grunt(s) decided to wear random badges...to boost team unity and morale? Would they get in trouble? Would they get court marshaled? I'm sure there are all sorts of examples from history where regiments wore specific "unique" badges...but I'm wondering about the effect of a monkey badge on a superior officer in present day.

It's possible that she might not be militay at all. She could be a PMC. There are lots of them and some of them are females. Just because she's posed in front of a chopper doesn't mean that she's part of the crew.
edit - I took a look at the group picture so they're probably all military but you never really know these days. There are lots of contract outfits in operation with access to all kinds of military hardware.

When I was in the Corps a buddy of mine used to have a little Bert doll stuffed in the pocket of his flack jacket whenever we went out in the field or deployed overseas. Sure the Gunny gave him grief but it soon became a joke between them and the Platoon liked it. I used to have a old G.I. Joe Gung Ho ID card taped to the backside of my Military ID. No one complained. I believe the woman is in the service and she prolly just put the patch on for the picture and thats it.
