What's the deal with Pegasus?

Anyone know what was up with Pegasus? They came out of nowhere and dropped that nifty V-1 on us and then disappeared. I thought the V-1 was such a great idea-a totally unexpected yet recognizable "aircraft" of sorts that was affordable, didn't take up much shelf space (even the most crowded 1/18 collector could fit one of those into their collection), easy to manufacture, and quite popular. I thought someone on their staff must have been really thinking outside the box and might turn the 1/18 hobby on its ear then boom, they disappeared. They went awol before the downturn so I don't know what could have happened. Anybody heard of the fate of Pegasus?

They're a hobby shop that produces some of their own stuff now and then. I'd first heard of them back in the early '90's when they'd released the first of the Reichswehr '46 armour (a Maus) in 1/72. They also released a 1/6 PaK 38 IIRC in the late '90's plus several others. Their bread and butter are RC cars and even have a track on site. These are the guys I'd called in the past about the 1/18 ac they'd released. Back around Christmas time they'd said the X-1 will be released this summer.

THANKS for that link Jericoeagle1!!! I'm a big sci-fi fan and especially War of the Worlds, the '50's version.
These are a must have for sure!

I sent them an email, and the response was sometime this summer...
said they were working on landing gear issues.
I work for a company that builds space reflectors and the amount of redesign and rework issues is amazing. $$$ million dollar projects... So it's not surprising small compaines have things pop up and cause delays.
On my home project I used to be pissed if I messed up a part or something deemed "simple and doesn't need a lot of attention" turns out to be a major problem. After working with $$$ engineers that screw things up I'm more relaxed when I mess something up.
Perhaps the 1/18 designers rely too much on CAD and miss the mark on little "simple" things

Yeah, At the place I work we have two design phases. The virtual one and the real one. It's easy to design something in CAD, then have them mate perfectly and within .000001mm of each other. But when you move into the real world - oh hey wait! Why isn't this behaving the same?!

I have the V-1,and thought it was a great idea when it first came out.
Very simple design, that was done fairly well, especially for the price.
If Pegasus did the X-1,I would be all over that.

Just got off the phone with Pegasus. They're production guy wasnt there today so couldnt get info about the X-1 but the guy I spoke with said they have a zero coming (not sure what scale, I'll ask tomorrow) french 1/72nd scale, and a "bunch of sci-fi stuff comin". My curiousity is peaked. Will let you all know about the X-1 tomorrow if I find out.

There is one at the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, VA. Looks like it could get the best of the R/C Tankers.

OK guys, just spoke with Pegasus hobbies and they said the X-1 is still in the works but, just as other manufacturers, they wouldnt say much more than that. They said there are no plans for a piper cub or V2 with launch base.

Off the path a bit, but did you all know also that Pegasus has a VERY nice Nautilus Submarine Kit from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea in the works?
While the Nautilus design differs enough from the Disney version of the vessel to avoid legal problems, it looks like a little customizing could be done to convert it into either that version, or the one from Harryhausen's MYSTERIOUS ISLAND.
