21C may still be around for us.

From Toy Soldiers of San Diego's website's coming attractions section:

"21st Century has advised us that they will be releasing new products this spring. We do not know as yet what these might be, other than the WWII U.S. artillerymen sets that we have pictured here. As soon as we know more we will post it here."

http://www.sdsoldiers.com/coming_attractions.htm

That doesn't sound like they're going out of business to me. TSSD's site is all about 1/32nd scaled items, so there probably won't be any news on new 1/18th scale stuff there. I hope they still make 1:18.

Seems like the heartbeat of 21st is getting slower and slower with each day that passes without a word on the status of the company.

My guess is 21C is just going to go dormant for a while, probably for the next couple of years, and with new releases being few and far between during that time. I really doubt they are going to fold their tent completely.... as in forever.... 8) When things begin to turn around economically and people have money to spend, I bet they will be back in the game. On the other hand, I don't think there is any doubt we are in for a long dry spell, and for you guys that collect only 1/18th I think you're going to feel the pain most and for a longer time.

I emailed TSSD to see what they had to say - below is their response:

HELLO BRIAN,

THE INFO ON OUR WEBSITE IS RECENT - BUT - THEY HAVE BEEN "VERY QUIET", AND
NOT WILLING TO "TALK FREELY" - AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON.

SO.......?

THE INFO I GOT IS FROM THEIR DOMESTIC SALES MANAGER, SO HE SHOULD KNOW(?)

THEY DID NOT ATTEND THE NEW YORK TOY FAIR, HOWEVER.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL WITH US, OR REORGANIZING, OR WHAT!?

THANK YOU & BEST REGARDS,

i talked with Gm M.Cordero yesterday they are "reorganizing" but plan on new releases. he wouldmt give me much else. except MD is clearing stock for them as i and others had thought. i did get the march stock list and a few items that were out of stock have been restocked. so some possible positive news. Michael is a great guy but he plays everything close to the vest. he would say much no matter what was going on!

Yeah - that is what I thought too. Their email says that is "recent" but that is at least a few months old.

Since there was some production photos of the KT posted on this forum sometime ago, I would think the parts are all in place to get them mass produced and out to the e-tailers. I wouldn't think they would go through all that time and expense to just produce a production model and stop completely. Would they?????

They may have a desire to do the run but if you don't have the cash to fund the production it means nothing. Also, I don't think the 88MM was a money maker for them if they are dumping inventory so MD can sell them for $40.

MD was dumping whatever 21c had in the warehouse in AZ
if you look online there are 88's for retail all over its just luck we have happened to know of MD's sale.

Thank you. To the guy who supposedly had a conversation with Monkey Depot at their store, I guess they were B.S.'ing you eh? If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

Wait 'til the 22nd century...

I will be the first to admit that I have been one the first people to jump on 21C for leaking info on upcoming products that either did not come to production or possibly to discourage other manufacturers from making their versions. Anyway, maybe 21C has just adopted a policy of strict silence on new products until they are ready to hit the shelves. They may still yet pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat.

What are they reorganizing,
It's just another way of saying downsizing. Minimizing existing stock levels, reducing the product range, putting new projects on hold, laying off staff, just to name a few.... these could all be part of a "reorganizing" plan to hunker down and weather the economic storm.
