I finally got my PTE vehicles in!! Overall, I am impressed! I'm glad to see the size difference between the PTE and Trumpeter 1/20 Type 98 are not that noticable. Actually, the Trumpeter is a tad bigger.

I did not post pics of the PTE Helo and the SU-27 since they've been reviewed.

I'm posting comparison pics of the PTE vs Trumpeter vehicles. As well as the custom BTR-60 that I've been working on against the PTE IFV.

As you can see from the dust on the BTR-60 I'd taken a long break to deal with other issues. Now, I'm trying to get back on track. The dimensions I used for the BTR-60 were scaled to 1/18 using drawings. However, the angles on the front were difficult to obtain. Overall it's not a bad vehicle but the next group I'm going to go out and just buy a BTR-60 model to get the correct angles for the front of the vehicle.

Hope you all like. The BTR-60 needs a lot of work. Dimensionally everything should be correct in regards to overall length, heigth, width, and turret diameter/height. Hatches, windows also dimensionally are as close as I could get them to include position on the vehicle.

The BTR-60 is still in works. The one photo shows the BTR unpainted and painted. No detailing done yet. All the hatches open, turret moves, and the main gun moves as well.

I bought up a whole bunch of old joe APC's. The size was close to 1/18 especially after building on the front of the vehicle brought it to the right length.Basically used the base and wheels as the foundation and built up from there.All measurements/angles were taken from drawings. The positioning of doors, hatches, etc., were measured and parts placed IAW the scaled dimensions.

How:

* Trimmed the sides down to reduce the height and got rid of the excess plastic. Also used dremel to remove the big plastic block that separated the front wheels from the rear 2 wheels.If you remember the GIJoe APC you'll see what I'm referring to.

* Cut open an extra space to put in the 4th axle rod to make it a 8 wheel vehicle.

* The upper part of the BTR-60 is constrcuted of raw styrene evergreen plastic. I built frame in the interior to help stabilize and strengthen the plastic parts. All the pieces were measured as accurately as possible and calculated on my scale conversion spreadsheet.

* The turret is constructed using thin styrene plastic also reinforced with an internal frame. The turret and barrel moves.

* Interior has drivers/passenger seats as well as rear infantry compartment. Future versions will have the side panels/doors open. Also corrected the wheel spacing on the second version.

The only difference you'll see with the Trumpeter Type 98 is I mad the hatches on the tank open and close on the turret.

The BTR-60 has a long way to go. I tried showing the comparison between the 2 BTR's I'm working on. One has still has not been completed. The olive green BTR has a lot of work left.

Need to do detailing work, weathering, and attachment of accessories.

I'm also going to take some photos with 3.75" figures standing next to the BTR-60 and other vehicles.
