If so, I'm disappointed---I would really like to see William Barker's Camel---the one with the white stripes and red heart (second from the bottom).
I sure hope Admiral does a Barker Camel eventually---it would be on my "must buy" list.
I don't think the order of the images is meant to indicate any particular order of production - just showcasing some of the potential schemes being considered.

JASON:

The picture below is from your post---it is William Barker's Sopwith Camel. If you release Barker's Camel, it will be #1 on my "must buy list". Build it, and I will buy it.

Anybody make a 1:18 Snoopy with his doghouse? :)

PH, that Conquistador helmet is a little earlier than WWI me thinks.
Got a friend out here who manages the Coronado State Monument just outside of town.
They flew him out to Sarasota FL. to train in spanish armor and shoot an arbicus for tourist demonstrations.

Nice collection!

I'm on board for these WWI fighters. Like to see what the figures look like.
I'm liking that last black and white DR. I
Reminds me a little of the ruthless German ace in Flyboys.
I can see AT doing an Albatross, Spad, maybe an SE5.

Man WWI is almost virgin territory for 1:18
Maybe some armor down the road?

Yes it is,

I gatherd all of these up and took them to the Huns house foe safe keeping after the storm. I was afraid of the looters. I swung back and picked them up when they let us back into town . I took them out of their storage boxes put them on the shelf and have not touched them since. That is about 3 1/2 years of dust  Some of the parts that fell off of the helmets are still in there boxes.

Here is a Katrina causualty. It is a Baden Lieb Garde enlisted mans 1895 style. It survived a hundred years one World War but did not do well in transportation. It is one of my rarest. The 109th regiment was VERY small which meens it is VERY RARE. I almost cried when I pulled it out of its box.

I can fix the front visor and re-attach it but it bummed me out so bad that I have not even looked at since I put it on the shelf.

Untill today. I will take some pics and put it back on the shelf.

Okay I remember beating this drum over the past couple of years before "FLY BOYS" came out...and I am so glad it is happening...this is truly revolutionary Jason...Thanks for taking the lead...I'd venture to guess these will out sell the WWII planes. Congrats and best of luck.

I’ve been hoping someone would pick up some WWI planes and produce them. This is a great start. I wonder if they will have figures.

ok wish list time....on top of the Vimy and Gotha i'd like to see a zeppelin.

:)

in truth, i wonder how popular this series will be. Obvious excitement here on the board, myself included. I hope it does do well as there is a lot of great potential for fighters, scouts and recce aircraft. The Vimy and Gotha i can make myself (from card models).

The zeppelin will have to wait for the here after.

I didn't notice.....did Jason give any time frame for the first release?
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Interesting decision on Admiral's choice. I know the die hard collectors will buy these WWI aircraft, but what about the rest of the population? WWI is an often forgotten segment of the hobby but then again, how many WWI collectors are there? These planes just don't have the sexiness of WWII fighters or modern day jets. I wish Jason luck with these as I am on the fence about these till I see the final product.

I am not devoted to just one generation of military vehicles but I think WWI is much closer to WWII than WWII is to today's modern vehicles.

I'd like to see some WWI tanks too.

I see what you're sayin'. Most posters on here are old enough to have a grandfather or even father serve or be of an an age where they could remember the war. WWI is quickly passing out of living memory.

Still, i'd rather have flying coffins than the geometric monstrosities that pass for 5th gen jet fighter aircraft.

Knights, gladiators, the Civil War, and many other eras are a little outside the current generation's memory, as well, but seem to have a pretty significant following, regardless. I think the aircraft of WWI have moved from the personal experience category to a kind of romance and mystery. I think Admiral will do well with these pieces, although many of the collectors may not be from the same group that collect WWII or modern aircraft.

ANY new 1/18 items are to be imbraced with open minds and open wallets.

I will be sure to get these regardless of the schemes.

Some of the most popular planes at air shows are the classic biplane trainers, everybody wants to see the biplanes. I'm sure AT will sell out on these.

We can hope we will see the SPAD, Fokker DR 7, SE5a and even a Bristol 2 seat.

I would enjoy having them to showcase the evolution of fighters.

Personally, with the economy and our concerns about the hobby, I hope Admiral Toys concentrates on the paint schemes that will be for sure home runs to maximize their return on investment. Afterwards, they can release the repaints until interest and budgets begins to drop off.

I think these will have have a market outside of the typical collectors as there is some universal appeal. Especially for nostalgic decor.

Probably, a good market for selling them through the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant franchise as well.

As a an avid aviation fan , i like evry "flying machine" and the TRIPLANE is really an icon ! i think it will be a perfect match with the future PEGASUS X1 for an intersting display ... my only fear is that 21st CT will announce a complete WW1 collection for 9.95 / each with a free DVD from"FLYBOYS"

Due to space limitation (15 planes and 6 copters !!!!) i will limit to the red baron's mount but the camelis tempting ... hope it's small enough to have both !
1/18 mirage 2000 & RAFALE should i say more ?

Seems an odd choice to me. I will buy one just because I'm dying for something new in 1/18. Sadly, the generation which grew up with those planes are leaving us and interest in those items are disappearing with them. You can see it in the the classic car market (real cars, not toys). 15 years ago Model T's and the like were worth a fortune but as the generation which grew up with those cars has gone so has the interest and those cars are now worth next to nothing. I would rather that Admiral followed through on their previous comitments to planes like the SBD, etc.
