Wow, where did you dig that nugget up? That would be guarranteed to be the worst selling series in the history of the hobby...right next to the "Preparation H" Mutt with TOW.

I to came across this when I first started collecting a few years back...I think the guy does custom paint jobs....not sure if they still do it...that website is old.......nothing on it has changed that much on that page.

I think I read it here. I thought it was going to be a factory release and not a custom.

I would have to disagree with you on not being a good seller. A bunch of Ferrari collectors would buy them. I collect 1/18 diecast as have a few Ferraris, but there are some rabid collectors that would snap these up.

Here is a tidbit on the 1:1:
On November 22, 1981, driving his Ferrari 126CK Formula 1 car, Gilles Villeneuve lined up against an Italian Air Force F-104 Starfighter jet for a 1000-meter drag race. He won. To commemorate the event, in 1989 the Italian Air Force donated an F-104G painted red Ferrari. The number 4 was for 4th Wing and 27 was the race number of Villeneuve´s F-1 Ferrari. It now sits inside the Fiorano test track.

Who else has all five of the F-104's? Which one is your favorite?

I'm split between the S1 and the West German. Both look really cool in my book. I also like the Tiger Meet version a lot, but that might just be 'cause I'm a native of Canada!

I don't have all five of the F-104s, but do have the original three: S1 USAF, S2 Marinefleiger, and the S3 USAF Vietnam versions. For me the S1 USAF version wins out. It is actually one of my favorite 1:18 planes to date. It captures the look of the F-104 and is flashy without being too overbearing. There were many times I was tempted to get the S4 "Really George" and S5 "Tiger Meet" F-104s, but their paint schemes were really just too overbearing.

I'm glad 21c did not make the Ferrari version as it would not have sold very well and my Wal Marts would have been full of them. They were pushing it with the "Tiger Meet" scheme... Still, it would have been cool to use the F-104G parts to make an Italian AF plane in a standard scheme.

I have all five of the F-104s and all of them are beautiful. I dont really think I could pick a favorite because all of them are representative of different times and eras for the plane.

I suppose, that if I had to pick one, it would have to be the Marineflieger version. I chose that one only because my father used to work with them when he commanded ground radar sites in Germany in the early 70s.

On a note, he was always upset with the losses the Germans incurred in them. He always said that they used them in a way they werent designed to do, such as low level. They were supposed to be used as high speed interceptors, not low level, through the valley intruders.

Just my opinion.

I have 4 of them. I passed on the S 1 and regret it now. My fav is the camo version.

I would have been all over the Ferrari one if they made it.

It is kind of like a Red barron version but not.
