WIP Cutom Land Rover WMIK type (LINKS WORK NOW)

Post by steelbonnet » Fri Apr 01, 2005 5:54 am

Hi again,

Here`s the WIP so far of my WMIK (weapons mounted installation kit) Land Rover WOLF-XD.

The 3 figures are Power team British SAS with various heads used instead. Plan on giving these guys plenty of removable gear & headwear & weapons.

The Bonnet is actually from a Chap mei landie type which l cut off & used with the scratch built body.

As for the WMIK landie though, here`s what we have so far......

main body done with vehicle parts around......

Well as you can see still abit to go,though looking good so far l think. It will be armed with a .50 cal on Turret Gun ring, front gunner/passenger will have a GPMG on a swing out fitting.
Also not seen yet, there will be a rear seat for turret gunner & of course extra`s. Still undecided on colour though, wether to go British Army Green or Desert.

Oh just for a cleared image here`s a photo of the real WMIK Land Rover........

Again thank`s for looking.

Very Nice work - inspirational to tell the truth :D

Where did you get the British SAS? Are they available from the PTE site? I thought they may be pre-order so I didn't get any. Anybody know what's up with the PTE site since we last heard it was shipping product? Are all those figures in stock  ?? Thanks.

Digger,

Thank`s very much mate :D

As for the PTE SAS figures, there from a place in the UK,though hard to get there are some around.
I have never had a email back from PowerteamUSA for getting them from them.
I have some though alas not many with the SA80 weapons & there`s 3 types they do too:- SA80 bayonet fixed,SA80 & LSW.

So l`ve had to make my own,so far numbering 15 though l`ve also been able to make a couple of varients they don`t do like the SA80-K & the SA80-UGL (fitted with H&K AG36 grenade launcher). Used the AG36 from the Hasbro G36 to complete them. So l`ve done around 20 custom SA80s so far that need finishing.

Still be nice to see more British figures & vehicles come out.
Shame BBI cheated in there Modern Brits by repainting US figures.
As they got the Temp (green camo) DPM right & there Arrid (desert) DPM one isn`t that bad either.
Everyone know`s though Brit-US gear & weapons are so different.

maybe in the future they`ll do a Proper Britsh range?

I've been watching 'SAS-Are you tough enough?' and have often seen landrovers that look just like that.

Great work!

Cheer`s Tomd :D

Been a fan of your custom vehicles (as you know) for sometime.

As for the SA80,well l`ve been making some from scratch though l do have 6 PTE SA80s. Which are bang on to scale, down part is there a bugger to get :(

Once l`ve finished my vehicles l`m going to try my hand at casting some (though l`ve never done it before). Alas l don`t know anyone in the UK who does it,or l`d get them to knock out a batch,as l`m sure they would be a welcomed weapon out on the collectors market :D

Again Tomd Thank`s :D

Well guys l`ve put this on hold now as l`m going to be redoing some work to it.

I now plan on turning this into a US Rangers SOV version.

The reason for the drastic swing in direction. Well that`s down to me landing 5 Diecast 110 Defenders & 1 Diecast 90 Defender for a Great price. All 6 for £45.

So with that the diecasts are going to be British versions (2 are already pegged to be WMIK Defender versions) & the rest not sure yet.

So hence the change of direction of this Custom made Land Rover.

Oh also l found this one l made to be a fraction wider (by 2 mm on both sides) than the diecasts, how`s that for scale calculating :D
