$55 88mm gun on ebay

Get em while you can. Particularily good for non US folk, as the shipping is about the same as it is from the States.

Yeah, the shipping kills it for me... I'm still holding out on this one. It's a nice looking piece, but at $80-ish it's still just too rich for my blood. Plus I don't like the DAK paintjob and would prefer more neutral or European specific deco on mine should I get one.

I'm gonna stick firm to my guns on this one I think. The hobby just isn't interesting me enough right now beyond figures, to plunk down that kind of cash on it.

I find it interesting that 21C has a retail dealer in China. Didn't know there was a big XD market in China.

I wonder if 21C is aware of this dealer?

you mean the guy who stands outside the back door of the factory and gets it while the plastic is still hot?

thats probably why it was a smaller order - the factory makes more and sells them to make extra money.

Well, there ain't anymore now.
I only got 2 from BC back when I ordered when they first came out.
Not going to take the chance of them coming in tricolor. Sooo, I got the last 2. I'll forget I ordered them in a couple weeks and when they show up, it'll be Christmas all over again 8) THen I send them off to the paint shop for the tri-color. I guess 4 is all anyone would ever need, but if 21st ever does the tri-color, I'll take 2 more. and my battle force would be complete :P

what's odd is his prices on other 21c items weren't really all that low but on the 88 the price was very good. I wonder why..

Well, not just a good price, but Blitzkreg fast shipping from overseas :P
Heck, it hasn't been but 9 or 10 days and this afternoon, they show up on my doorstep 8) Only problem is, I can't get a chance to play with 'em until after Christmas and the weekend trip to the in-laws  Even then, I got to finish the Mini Famo up, then I can get something started ;)

I really wish that 21st would make the 1 18th full sized SDkfz 7 Famo so we could tow these monsters. I will now need 4 to pull my 88s

I think the Famo would be a good seller. Even at the $70 - $90 price range ... as long as they have total features like opening hood, opening gear hatches on the back fenders, working hatch, etc.

It'd be nice to have these to haul 3-4 men per seat too.
After looking at prototype pic.s, these half tracks were HUGE almost as big as a Tiger I

Please make these SDkfz7s 21st C ... Hint, hint :)

Some shop, all makers and very erratic prices. Some good, later on the list of toys available is the same item with a higher or lower price.

If it wasn't for the shipping, I'd be all over some of the 1/6 figs.

I agree of course you could always display it be towed by two 251/1(two 251 with two towe cable towing the 88 at the same time. and call it desperation...with a disclaimer saying after their SDkfz7 was knocked out by air..... The unites only remaining 88 had to be moved to protect the right flank...if they fail they die..................

one 251 could tow the 88, i've just never seen it done. The sdkfz 11, which is the same chassis as the 251, was used to tow the 88 in africa, in emergencies. It would be slow going and steep hills would be out of the question, but it could be done.

Amen to that. And this is the epitome why this scale is dying.

If people can't be persuaded to fork over less than $80 for such a detailed, and huge model piece like the 88mm....then yeah. Goodbye 21st 1/18 line.

21st might as well go the PTE route and make toy-looking tanks designed for kids.

actually, i think they should go the bravo team route, with simplified but accurate armour, planes they can keep doing what they've been doing as they're not really too high priced, in my view....but they neeed to get back in the big retailers with lower prices.

This hobby was born from an inexpensive TRU and then WM line; it's not surprising that large numbers of the participants in this hobby are now unwilling to shell out over twice as much per item.

If the products became stagnant in terms of quality (for example, if all the 21st newer releases have the detail and accuracy as, say...the first XD Mustand), then yes, I would agree. But 21st has come a long way. Their models/toys have improved greatly over the years, and the 88mm clearly show this. So it's to be expected that with better the quality, the higher the price.

And I think that if 21st started making models like the Bravo Team series (ie: very simplified toys), I'm sure a whole lot of people would be very disappointed.

We kinda got used to fantastic models from 21st. I know the ME-262s, the Pak40 and 88mm, the F-86, the MiG-15, and the new Mustang has certainly spoiled me. :D

But I’d gladly pay $80 for a grey 88 (especially since there doesn’t seem to be many QC issues with this model).

What I’m not considering is buying one (at that price or even lower) which I then have to repaint because 21st (for whatever reason) has a notion to release what’s probably the least popular scheme first. If they make their bed, they should sleep on it.

And that's not taking into account the exhorbitant shipping cost, mind you, which I'd have to pay regrdless of the price tag of the item.

Sorry but I have no use for a DAK 88 and will NOT take responsibility for 21st's lousy business management decisions.

I will buy the 88 if and when it's produced in German grey. So thanks, but no thanks.

Ps: Last time I checked collectors did not have any responsibility to keep 21st or any other company alive. I may be wrong, though.
