21C "PLATOON" Vietnam XD

Post by Sgt. Stryker » Wed Mar 23, 2005 2:50 pm

Can anyone give me some info or pics on these guys?
I have my 10 US Nam XD figs set up with the UH-1 "Huey", M-48A3 "Patton", the M-41 "Walker", plus a couple of MUTTS, so I need a few more Grunts to complete the squad.

I did a search at 21st's site for both Platoon and Bridge Too Far. Results: No products found... Please try again. What next year?
Maybe the Fan club President can give us some intel.

Yeah, I didn't see any mention at the 21C site or Area 51.
However, I did a search here at Small Scale HQ, and I saw a link to photos of 21C's 2005 product catalog which depicts 1/2 page of PLATOON product photos and descriptions.
However, just because the PLATOON figures and vehicles are shown in the catalog doesn't mean that this line will ever be released for public sale.
PLATOON is an "R" rated movie, and it is rare that toys are created and marketed from a "Restricted" feature, especially one that is now 20 years old!

They should be coming out nonetheless. Here is a scanning of the 2005 catalog showing the figures......

Hope this helps.....

Thats it! Thanks.
BTW, I've noticed that the overall finish of olive drab fatigues of the 2000 VN XD figures are a Matte which is realistic and very well done.
However, the finish on the crew members of the 2004 Huey UH-1C crew members is glossy and looks more "toyish".
Finally, has anyone tried to remove the helmet stuck on the head of the commander figure that came with the 2000 M48A3 tank?

If he's like the original tanker with the Bradley, leave the helmet on. It doesn't have any detail (hair, etc) underneath.

I took one off...the helmet is great , but you'll have to trash the head, it looks really bad without the helmet.

This is on my radar. I wouldn't worry, I think 21st is focusing on the Sahara stuff right now being that it is so close to its Launch. However I will see what details I can dig up on Platoon once I get back from the Preview screening in Vegas. Hang in there I do know that is making progress.
