SOLOMON ISLANDS ZERO NEWS

I was just on Military Toy Shop and saw that the Solomon Island Zero had be shelved for a while, but BBI is producing a Saburo Sakai white Zero. Military Toy Shop will make special offer for those who have pre-ordered the Solomon Islands Zero if they want to buy the Sakai Zero. Seems like both good and bad news. I was looking forward to seeing the Solomon Island Zero.

boy that is disappointing news......i was really wanting that solomon zero. Another white zero doesn't thrill me at all.....but i guess for those that missed out on the badcat pearl harbour zero it will be good news.

The solomon scheme was very different from all the schemes so far released...and very representative of the way many mid war zeros looked. I hope they reconsider and release it.

Well that's a bummer. I had two of them on order, back when they were $49 a piece.

Yeah I was also really hoping for the solomans version. I guess I might pick up the other new one and then bust out my airbrush and make my own so i can have it now. Sick of the wait.

Exactly...glad I didn't get one of those now. I bet the peeps that paid 250 or whatever are pissed now.

I paid $25 for one on ebay for the PH Zero, and ordered one at regular price from BCA when they were in stock.

The Solomon Zero would have been quite different, and a welcome edition.

MTS said that they might still get made by the end of next year.

They don't charge you till it gets delivered, so I'm keeping my order intact.

well i hope it still does get made....that was one of the repaints i was really looking forward too. Given the lack of japanese aircraft i'm into buying as many repaints of zeros as possible, as long as they offer something new and different, which the solomons zero did.

Why do think it was shelved? Do you think the problem was with a minimum acceptable quantity by the importer? Ive heard that several importers have been forced to up quantities to get an exclusive.

dunno. Perhaps a perceived lack of demand from consumers?...although i can't imagine why. It's a great scheme. I bet if they got them into TRU they'd sell no problem...it's a really cool looking plane painted that way.

Anyway, i hope they'll still get made. Maybe one of the bigger etailers will step up and get it as an exclusive?...if that's possible.

From a collector standpoint I wouldn't say so. The PH scheme still is just that, a PH scheme and it was a BCA exclusive that is no longer made. I suspect the PH scheme will continue to demand decent money, may drop a little when the Sakai scheme hits retail & ebay gets cluttered with them but it'll likely climb back up in value. I bought some of the PH's when BCA first announced them, but, if I didn't have one now I wouldn't hesitate to pay the going price for the scheme now... The schemes are actually not white, it's IJN light gray.

i just want one of that color...now I can get one for 70 bucks or whatever and not get raped. With two schemes of that color - the first is bound to drop in value. Have seen it before.

I missed the opportunity to purchase the PH version and although each scheme is unique I don't mind substituting the Sakai version for the PH version in my collection.

Nice! Makes me want to do one.

I've got extra BBI green Zeros I wanted to do something with them.

I like 21st Century's 32X version of Hiroyoshi Nishisawa's Zero.
Like it was painted white that turned old into tan, then painted green, then faded green with the original tan color showing through. It just looks cool to me.

The PH Zero is going down, though I suspect it's the economy for the drop in price.

I watched one on eBay yesterday and it went for around $115.
That's a considerable drop from the $200+ just a few months ago, but still pricey.

Oh yeah, I'm quite the sniper, waiting in the bushes till the last 30 seconds or so.
The only way you can win nine times out of ten.
Take them by suprise, Oh the infamy.

I didn't buy a PH Zero cause I already have two, but I've gotten some sweet deals in the last week or so on other planes.
