Is there a support group for obsessed 1/18 figure collectors?

I should give you an update on the number of Death Star Trooper figures I have acquired. I have been finding them at a rate of 5-6 (minimum) at WalMarts, KMarts, Targets, and TRUs. My closet is stacked top to bottom with them. Not to mention the shoeboxes full of opened Death Star Troopers. I would be willing to wager that my collection of Death Star Troopers rivals any other person's collection of a single 1/18 figure.

Would someone care to compete with me?

On a side note, I saw the Endor Bunker Assault playset with the imperial officer. I passed it up to buy more Death Star Troopers.

Tinman - ROFL!

Can I share with the group why the Death Star Trooper is the ultimate figure?

When I was a kid, there was a Star Wars figure called "Death Squad Commander" or some such odd name. He had a black helmet and a grey jumpsuit. As kids, we had to use our imagination that this was indeed a death star trooper. But in reality, we knew it wasn't, and longed for an actual one.

Eventually, there was a death star trooper, many many years later. He had a huge laser rifle and a funky dance stance. It was a major improvement from the original, however there was something still a bit off about this figure.

Then came the death star trooper we all know and love. If you own one, and it's still in the package, study it. The packaging, the figure itself...perfection!!! This was what we were after back in the late 1970s! Seriously, this figure looks great in the package. It says "Buy me! Buy me!"

Can anyone out there relate?

I think he got stopped at the Louisana state line and was told to get back to Texas. It's a good thing that he didn't make it all the way to Mississippi he probably wouldv'e been shot on site. Texas has so much XD they don't need to mess with ours. Even though I broke the news on the massive amounts of XD dual packs in Tyler..... and was nice enough to leave plenty of them on the shelves.

BTW the death star trooper is a excellent figure and I still have my death squad commander. He is one of the few that survived GI Joe.

I like that original WWII Navy helmet. I have always wanted one of those. I knew Lucas had got his idea from that for the Death Star Trooper (and General Veers) as soon as I saw Star Wars for the first time.

I went: "Aha a cross between a Navy helmet and a German helmet."

The figure does look much better than the 1998 dance fever death star trooper. I picked up a few here and there - but most of them have horrible paint on the eyes - looks like he has problems with his contacts - or was rolling his eyes .....

I still have a few of my original death squad commander - the problem I had was with his head - my sister always snapped the head off I guess due to the big hat...anyway - I could have probably had more figures but my mom was always buying me another death squad commander....
