1/18 Puma ?

Armor guys love armor . When you think of armor you think of tracks. Nobody has mentioned the Puma or other Sd.Kfz. 234 variances. There are a few of them. This is one cool buggy. Do you armor guys ( me included I actualy like armor a little more than airplanes ) think that this should be with the trucks and Duce and a half and the like ?
Does the 1/18 world need a Puma ? Or is there other pieces of armor that need to be done more than life itself ?

How about a Greyhound?
A Puma would be a good idea too, but a load of work.

They should build a 1/32 first as a "prototype" so I can check it out for you guys.

The Greyhound is an AMERICAN Armored Car. Sad to say if I ever made a Greyhound the money made on it would not be worth the effort. That is the only reason I have not gone ahead with a Grant/ Lee M-3. Which is one of favs. as well as the Stuart.
BTW this is on the list of builds before I die. Man that list sure is long.

No Pumas! There were only something like 98 made of those. No, we need a T-34. I'm tired of German and American vehicles....

Here's some more fuel for the fire....the Stryker and LAV have been done...at least partially. But I for one (maybe the ONLY one) would love to see a V100 or V150....maybe even the new M1117! All American...all wheeled. They always seem to take back seat to alot of other AFV's and never get the lime-light. Too bad, I think they are awesome.

I do not think that the T-34 would be worth the trouble. I like the tank myself but you can get one in 1/16 scale with R/C for $70 to $80. If it took 2 days to build one $80 would just not be worth it.

222 and 232 before the 234/2 IMO
both 222/232 served out the duration of the war, and in larger numbers than the Puma...you can do 223 and 231 with just minor tweeks..doing the 234/1 would be a new turret and /3 and /4s would require a new upper hull.
but the Puma has the
wow factor
like the Pz II L..even though neither production number really gave either design an impact on the war.
the wow factor is also what gave us a 251/22 vs say a 251/10...that and the 251/22 was a parts-bin assembly vs a /10 would have needed a new tooling for the 3.7cm PaK 35/36

Darn. I read the title of the thread and thought Aerospatiale SA 330 Puma.
You know, the helicopter?
Right?
Errr, never mind.

I like the idea of a 1:18th Puma. I've been looking at some line drawings trying to see what it take to do a custom. But no new projects untill finish the Brummbar.

Not sure if the question is should you build a Puma or should a Manufacturer do one.
If 21st, FOV or BBI produced a Puma I would get several and mod a couple of 224 versions. easest would be the one with the Pak 40.
To me though the trouble with this kind of question is that there are hundreds of worthy subjects to be made, but currently what has been made is but a drop in the bucket. Some that have, such as the M41 make me wonder why this one. Others such as the Sherman, Tigers and Panthers and PZIVs are obvious starting places though the T34 and Pershing should have been already made too. Do we need every tank made before any soft skins? Do we want all one country before the next one gets it's equipment? It took nearly 40 years of model production before just about everything was made. I hope 1/18th will be around long enough to reach the same point. Anyway my simple answers is yes to just about everything.

Absolutely LOVE German armored cars. Any and all will work for me.
Mitch, does that 1/16 Puma have a firm release date and price point? That will be the piece that pulls me into the larger scale.

* Not as of yet buddy. I'll give you a heads up & post when I learn something more about it. Unless "tankduel" beats me to the punch first.
* It's going to be
incredible ! ... Especially in R/C and I don't give a $hit if it's a damn kit either.
* I've already got AD's R/C 222 & 223 , simply amazing pieces.*

I'd like to see any of the 8 Rad cars, like the Sdkfz 231,232,234 and variants. 222 is already available in 1/16 and 1/32. Time for something different.
