Heng Long will be releasing a new Jagdpanther in the next month or so.
It will feature a new hull, not the old pantiger one. Looks like it will be IR as well.

Not surprising, Tamiya recently released it’s Panther G and Jagdpanther.

I have no doubt they probably copied Tamiyas JP, at least now there will be planty of upgrade parts available....for both.

Very cool - wish they had a camo paint scheme though.

they do seem to like medium grey plastic don't they. Why not go for a dark yellow shade of plastic at least?

I looked at rccommand website and they have a Panther tank, but the paint scheme looks pretty bad. Maybe a dark yellow would be the way to go.

Yeah - I thought the tank looked odd overall but couldn't put my finger on it. The Stug and Jagdpanther are must haves. I can't imagine seeing a 1/18th version from 21C or or anyone else except maybe an expensive custom.

I've got the Stug, it's great, but I thought that would be it for awhile.

I have wanted this Jagdpanther for years and I can finally see its on its way. It looks just right to me by the photo, but I must confess I had 2 Mato 1/16 Panthers that worked fine, but were just the wrong shape. They were too square shaped and quite frankly just did not look Panthers, but a more modern style tank, so I sold them both. As far as the paint scheme, I have 2 friends in your country who do customs for me and who are 2 of the best, so grey is just fine. I thought we were getting a Jagdtiger next and a Sherman, but this is much better for me. Hope I have enough money left over for family Christmas presents, otherwise they will have to settle for just looking at my expanding 1/16 collection.

BTW you can not compare the Tamiya kits with the likes of Heng Long. I have a Panzer 3, only because Tamiya hadn't made one. The Tamiya tanks have proportional control. Plus all the other bells and whistles.

I am glad to see other companies taking an interst in 1/16 scale. It just upsets me when a Chinese compay rips off a legitimate manufacturer.

Without getting into this, Back Yard Armor sells the Panther G for $710 and that doesn't include the radio gear.
I agree in some ways they can't be compared, I think he just meant he wanted a Jagdpanther he wouldn't have to pay up to $1000 for, and was not comparing the 2, or again ressurecting the endless and dreaded HL vs Tamiya bloodbath.

To wait wait for my favorite piece of amor in 1/18, or to get in 1/16??

Sorry to sound like a boob, but what is "proportional control"? Sorry, but the only RC tanks I have are made by 21C.

I hope its not $1000... I'd get a Jagdpanther in a heartbeat. It is one of my favorite WWII German tanks and one of the few I've yet had the chance to observe up close (at London's Imperial War Museum). I would probably repaint the model into a scheme approximating that one

The Hen Long will probably be around $150 or maybe less. It's the Tamiya jagdpanther that will cost up to $1000.

B-29, i'd wait for a while. See what FOV has coming out in the next few months or maybe they'll be a custom kit come out to convert the 21c panther. These 1/16 things will be around for years to come. There's no rush.

If you're not caring too much about scale though, then go for the Hen Long. I think it would look great with a good paint job. Shame they didn't put zimmerit on it like the Matorro king tiger.

Proportional control.

Cheap RC tanks usually only have ON/OFF motor control. The Panzer 3 I purchased happened to have two speed controls. Which helps.

The Tamiya tanks have full proportional controls along with heavy duty, high reduction gear boxes. If you only move the joy stick a little bit. The tank will only crawl, allowing for slow speed maneuvers. The further you move the joy stick the faster the tank will drive. This makes for a much more realistic movement and will provide hours of entertainment. I get quite frustrated with the Panzer 3, it is hard to drive compared to a tank with proportional speed control.

There is no comparison between a $1000 tank or a $62 tank. But I have too admit, that after I repainted the Panzer 3, it looks pretty good. The turret bustle is completely wrong and that drives me nuts though…

I like how everyone over exaggerates the cost of Tamiya, and then makes HL look so much better. My Tamiya Jagdpanther cost $670.00, add a radio receiver of $60.00 (because I already had the transmitter) and that doesn't add up to $1,000.00 does it? Even if you want to add another radio, most 4 channel radios are under $125.00 and this is a tank with metal sprockets, metal idlers w/adjustment for track tension, road wheels that allow bushings or bearings and detail items that YOU decide where to install.

$670.00 + $125.00 = $795.00

You can only drive one tank at a time and building your tank is so much more rewarding then buying one that doesn't live up to the Tamiya. The HL Jagdpanther is a nice RTR, but don't compare the two against each other.

Agreed. I've had both Tamiya and HL Pershings. They look similar online, but once you had them in your hands, and been able to compare them IRL, you'll see all the difference.

It's kinda like comparing 1/18 XD planes to those $6,000-prebuilt 1/18 planes from Europe.

The HLs are very good buys. They have very good details, considering they are marketed as toys (much better than XDs). But if you want museum-quality models (and if you have the skills to do it), go get a Tamiya.

Who's doing that. Just because you paid $795 for yours and already had the transmitter and this doesn't add up to $1000. Well thats hardly fair reasoning, you'd be paying more like $850 (or more) if you bought all new.

OK so I said up to $1000, maybe thats a little high, Lets just say someone starting out is going to have to pay closer to $1000 than $150.

And again, no one here was making HL look so much better or comparing (other than price). Someone stated they wanted an 1/16 RC Jagdpanther and a HL would be more in his price range.

Maybe people who put the words Heng Long and Tamiya in the same post should put in disclaimers stating it is not their intention to imply Heng Long is better than Tamiya, hurt feelings, or provoke anyone into angry debate.

Although there are some members who are RC guys, I believe the majority of the members are collectors of static models. As I have said before, I have 8 HL's and not one of them runs and I don't care since I paid as little as 5 bucks each for them.

So for the majority of our members, there is a huge difference between $750 and $150, especially for guys not really into RC such as myself. If I had $750 to spend, I would buy 4 or 5 different HL's. Has nothing to do with the quality of the two, just the price. I will probably get the HL Stug and Jagdpanther, mayber run them once, and then set them on the shelf as display models.

Yeah ... I said I paid $670.00, not $795.00. And the reasoning was that it doesn't cost $1,000.00. That was my point. Whatever spin you want to put on my post, go ahead. There is a difference between a Corvette and a Chevette ... just don't say one is just a good as the other only because a savings was made.

I have many Tamiya's and now a Heng Long. They both have a place but I would never pit one against the other. No comparison and no hurt feelings.

How many times do I have to say they are not the same and I am not comparing the 2. Please try to grasp the idea that I'm saying Tamiya and HL both make (or will make) a Jagdpanther RC in 1/16. Some people can afford or wish to pay for the cheaper facsimile.
