Upcoming 1/16 tanks from Heng Long...

Post by ostketten » Wed Sep 10, 2008 6:41 am

In addition to the soon to be released 1/16 RC Sherman, Heng Long will apparently soon be making a 1/16 RC Jagdtiger and yet to be named WWII British tank. This news comes from Bill at RC Command who brought us the news of the impending Stug release, so I consider it absolutely reliable. This is awesome news. 8)

Is this the company that sold the T 34 that Aferg or someone bought off of Ebay?

no the T-34 is by Trumpeter. HL did the stug, panzer III and several others.

I suspect the british tank is either a matilda or crusader.

That probably means they'll be a churchill one day as well.

Thanks Aferg...are there any US dealers that sell the 1/16th tanks by Trumpeter or HL etc? I am a little hesitant to buy things and have them shipped from Hong Kong.

Yes. Try http://rccommand.com/ Excellent prices and outstanding customer service, highly recommended. The WSN/Trumpeters are not listed at the site yet, but I know he had some for sale recently, so you may need to email him about these if you are interested.
I suspect the british tank is either a matilda or crusader.
My personal preference would be for a Comet, but I'm not that big a fan of British armor to begin with, so it really doesn't matter all that much.

The longer we wait for something new in 1/18 with no release dates on the horizon, the better these tanks look.

It's not a comet. It says so right in the thread you posted a link for. My first choice woulc be a matilda, second a churchill and third a crusader.

Since it appears that it will be either a matilda or crusader, that should mean a churchill is a shoe in for a later release.

With all that, plus the rumoured elefant, most likely a jadgpanther at some point and undoubtedly a KV-1 and KV-2 from Trumpeter eventually, 1/16 is certainly looking pretty good. Just so hard to give up all my 1/18 tanks i've collected and worked on over the years...

A Churchill in 1/16th is so beautiful. Not a favorite tank of mine, but the look of it is just...awesome.

Some customizer is already making a Churchill in 1/16th. But like Skyworks, these are individually handmade and very expensive.

The downside is the customizer is planning on using the Tiger tracks. :(

well i have little doubt now that we'll see a churchill. Either this upcoming release or at some point down the road. If there's a market for a british tank, which there seems to be, then there is certainly a market for a churchill.

Aferg, then don't give up your 1/18th collection. Think of 1/16th as a complimentary hobby to your collection.

And yes, if you're in the continental US, buy from RCCommand. For those who live in Canada, Mato Toys is your best bet.

Already have 8 of the 1/16 tanks but I certainly didn't do away with my 1/18 collection. Please, nobody get offended, but I have never understood why everthing in a collection has to be the exact same scale. I am into armor, period. Why can't a 1/18 collection be displayed together and a 1/16 collection be displayed together.

If you are not into the RC aspect, keep an eye on ebay and you can find tanks in perfect condition other than something being wrong with the RC part of it. Not one of my 1/16 tanks runs, but that was not what I was interested in. Just wanted them to repaint for static models. Paid $5 each for 4 of them.

The best thing about the Henglong range, is they are in my price range being around $100 each. I shutter at 1/16 pieces that are priced at $800 etc, far to rich for me, no matter how appealing the item is. At last my favourite tank the Jagdpanther on the horizon. Sorry 21st for being disloyal, but I was completly yours, but you forgot me.

see I just get blinded when I think about getting my favourite tank the Jagdpanther, just wishful thinking, but I now see its a Jagdtiger, nevertheless this also would be very welcome. Just finished labelling my 7 control sets to keep track of which one operates which tank. I have placed a commander and also a machine gun operator in my new Stug by removing the legs at the knees where they pull apart. That and some stowage items on the rear deck bring this tank alive. Hopelly someone can do the same and post some photos for the forum as I am unable to get up to speed in this area.

I recently ordered (1/16 stug )from mato toys, canada and bam very quick shipment direct from china.

Post man, stopped and said you got something from china! What?

Only problem is credit card get hits with foreign tranaction fee and higher rate during that months period.

Hope the British tank isn't a Sherman from a British Unit.

Can it be...a Centurion?

Sadly, no....one of the hints is that it's a British tank that's an earlier model than the Comet...so it's not a Centurion. :(

But man...a Centurion... 8)

AFERG - I found a tank at rccommand that appears to be like the one that was on ebay. They said they have a trumpeter/wsn 1/16 T34. It is green with a white 36. The guy says there is some minor assembly - like gluing on a couple accessories. Is this the same tank you have? Thanks.

My guess is since they're already doing a Sherman, is that the "British" tank will be a Firefly Sherman. Yeah, not really a different tank, but certainly an easier way to get more money vs. an entirely new mold. Basically it'd be what we've always wished 21C or BBI would've done. I for one would gladly take it!

Just bought the 1/16 T34 from rccommand. Doubt we will see a 1/18th version the way things are going so broke down and went with the 1/16. RCCOMMAND is a top notch outfit that was very helpful. Thanks to aferg also.
