I am starting to think that we won't see Admiral's SBD Dauntless. I know Jason has said we will, but we have seen NO updates lately. Looks like the days of seeing new 1/18th scale models is coming to an end. What do you think?

i think you will still see new stuff from AT & BBi but the price will be a little higher and it will only be at online & mail retailers.
no more Wally worlds!

agreed.......i think the dauntlass will happen. AT has always been online only; no mass retailers. BBI seems to have changed with the release of the 109, with apparently, no mass market support; unless TRU will carry them at some point. I don't think the Zero ever showed up at mass market, like TRU did it? Maybe sales were good enough in spite of that to encourage them to sell new planes online only? Just guessing.

I think we will still see the Dauntless...
The BBI Zero never did show up at TRU, so the '109 could likely do the same. Most other recent BBI aircraft releases did show up at mass retail, though. Perhaps they feel there is not much of a market for the Japanese or German planes at mass retail.

I'm sure we'll see the 1/18 SBD Dauntless from AT...............
As far as bbi, don't forget that the F-16 never went to mass retail either......

Target online. Never saw the F-16 in a brick and mortar Target. Plenty of Blackhawks and Apaches though.

I too am hopeful. It isn't like AT has a lot of product line to fall back on, and had the poor luck of mimicking two simultaneous releases with 21C. I think the Dauntless will make enough of a splash to keep them afloat. Lord knows their 1/72 PZ III isn't going to do it.

This why we will not see the sbd, a-1 as quick as we want to from AT or the F-4,-Mig-21,B-25,ect…ect there needs to be more of a commitment for retailers to pick these items up. That includes online retailers and brick and mortar stores, along with the bigger box stores like TRU WM and Target. I think unless WM, Kmart, Target, Big lots, TRU picks up 21st 1/18 we will not see these items for a Loooooooooooooooooong time Pluse from what I here is that the manufactures in China require cash up front once an item has been mad ………..no credit…nada………so a company has to expand a large amount of capital including shipping to get an item over here……………in truth I think the high days on cheap toys made in China or over…….unless the go over to Vietnam or India…or even back here.

We've already seen the improved upon prototype.
I have no reason to believe the SBD-3 Dauntless won't get made.
I mean it's a 1:18 Dauntless for crissakes!
In it's most famous colors.
Seems like an awful waste of a lot of time and effort not to release it.
I was thinking to really make this sell better (as if that's not going to happen already

) if it's fea$ible, is to do a really nice graphic on the box of the Battle of Midway, with a background short story. If it doesn't get released before the Anniversary of the great battle, it would be a good time for it.
