It says this is #660 of 800. I have one of these somewhere but never noticed it had a serial number. Are these like the Nascar collectibles where if the serial number matched the number on the tank (can't in this case unfortunately) or if you have #1 its worth a lot more?

Yeah each and everyone of those Panzer tanks are indeed a numbered limited edition.
You can't miss the number! just look on the side of the turret. In 3 big red numbers you should find out what yours is. Mine says 819!
What is your number?

Nearly got me there!

Ashamed to say it took me a minute or two to see it.
Not a bad idea though about matching numbers

. 21st used to have some pretty good promotions. If 21st were to make the 88 & KT for instance, put serial numbers on them and six months after their release have a drawing with the owner of the winning serial number getting a free 88 or Kt. Surely they could spare one. Create more interest (if thats possibe). Hmmmm, maybe I should apply for a job in their marketing department.

His shipping charge (nearly $25 for parcel post) for an item of that size/weight is excessive too, I just sent a 1/16 RC tank (in a box about twice the size and weight of a XD Panzer IV) all the way to California from the DC area by PP for under $17 and that included delivery confirmation in addition to the postage.

Ebay is supposedly cracking down on shipping charges that appear to be excessive, but it's anyones guess if they will drop the hammer on this clown...

What the....... my Panzer IV has 819 on the sides too, somethings going on here.
Whats up with this guy? "this is 5 pounds of tank" ok for some reason my Bi-Cast Panzer IV comes in at 2lbs. so that makes the box 3lbs.

oh and its an MG 34 not a 42. I'd stay away from this one.......

I bought a 1/6 item from that seller recently (
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0070737601 ). IMO I got it for a good price and the shipping was fairly reasonable and quick. When I bought from him he told me that all the action figure stuff he sells is for his brother. I don't think he's being dishonest. I think he just isn't that familiar with the items he's selling. It's true that his listing is full of a bunch of meaningless BS meant to generate more interest but hell half the sellers on eBay do that crap these days. As far as the shipping is concerned I do think it's a bit high. However if he's sending it Parcel Post then he has to provide a box rather than using the free Priority boxes. A box the necessary size to ship an XD tank can easily cost $4 or more (assuming he isn't using a scrounged box). IMO the proper way to ship a large item like that is to use Calculated Shipping. I often use flat shipping for smaller items but for heavy stuff calculated is the best way to go because the shipping cost can be significantly different depending on the distance the buyer is from the seller. BTW he's located in Newport Beach, CA.
***edit*** The item didn't sell so it's reality check time. If he's going to sell that item he's going to have to lower the price significantly. BTW on a few occasions when I've noticed glaring errors in a listing I've contacted the seller and politely mentioned the errors. Surprisingly some of them have corrected the errors and replied with a thank you. Some sellers just aren't that familiar with the items they sell.
