For anyone who doesn't want to wait for the 21C KT, or just wants to get into RC armor, this ebay seller has a great deal going on the Matorro 1:16 RC Kingtiger...$150 delivered.

RC Dynasty is Mato Toys ebay store.

That is a good price, better than their previous price which amounted to the same as on their website.

You Save close to $100 bucks getting it @ RC Dynasty :D

No prob :D

If I hadn't already ordered a Stug I would have gone for it.

You have one of these right, Matorro KT?
How has yours held up electronics/driving wise?

To be honest, I haven't driven it much... but no complaints so far. I repainted it but I'm still in the process of weathering and detailing it. the tracks have too much slack in them though...makes them look very realistic laying down on the roadwheels and all, but probably prone to throwing tracks in tight turns, so I'll likely remove a link or two to fix that. Unfortunately I've had very little time to work on it at the moment, but I added photo etched brass engine grilles recently.

Does it come pre-painted like the one in the picture? If so, then this will be very tempting. Considering the troubles of 21c, there is no telling if or when their KT will come out, so this seems to be a viable option... Obviously it is larger than a 1:18th scale vehicle, but as the KT was a big tank to begin with, the slightly upscaled size is not really a problem. It is also only about $50 more than the 21c tank was proposed to be and it is RC and shoots 8)

If 21st folds up their 1/18 and FOV doesn't pick up the slack, 1/16 will be the future of armour. As I have said many times before, 1/18 figures look great with the 1/16. Takes some looking but I have picked up some of the 1/16 Tigers on ebay where the RC parts were busted. Got them for practically nothing. Just want them to repaint for static display anyway.

Yes, but in all likelihood you'll want to repaint it, or at least touch it up or something...the brown in the factory camo scheme is actually a dark reddish hue, (almost purple, no lie) that I found very unappealing, and the whole model has a sort of "plasticky" sheen to it, so I repainted mine (see pics below) it's a BIG tank, so repainting is not as daunting as you might imagine, at least it wasn't for me, and I don't consider myself especially talented in this respect... BTW, as hotrodrock says.... XD figures, (plus buildings and diorama accessories like those from build-a-rama etc.) work very well with 1/16 tanks.

Agreed. All that is missing, for me to make the jump to 1/16 armour is a Sherman and a good Panther. I don't mean the expensive Tamiya ones, i mean a good affordable Sherman and Panther. I'm going to wait a bit longer to see what FOV has in store, if Dragon comes online (as MG42 thinks they may) and to see what happens with 21c but if things remain the same then i'm going to make the jump to 1/16 armour.

I'll keep my halftracks, paks and any other 1/18 artillery i have, as they look fine beside the 1/16 tanks. I just find that 1/18 tanks don't look too good beside 1/16 tanks...otherwise the scale difference with planes, figures etc doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The future potential for 1/16 is undoubtedly much brighter as well. There were rumours of a Trumpeter KV-1 and while it never materialized it wouldnt' surprise me to see it in a year or two. I could also see less mainstream armour being produced in 1/16, like british tanks, elefants, merkavas etc, due to the much higher following this scale has.

So, i think 1/16 is probably going to be the way to go, armour-wise..

Hmmm.... well, I'm not sure... I know Mato has a "new" version of the KT for sale at their site for about a month now... it has a sort of "ambush" looking camo scheme, look here....

http://www.matotoys.com/canada/product_ ... cts_id=252

BTW, with regard to an affordable good looking Panther and/or Sherman... I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Heng Long do just that, with the appearance of the new Stug III it's pretty clear that HL is making a commitment to new products, better quality, and new features etc. while still keeping prices relatively affordable. Stay tuned.... 8)

I think it's the same KT as the other more affordable one shown.
I don't see where it shows when the $150 one was listed, but that is what they were selling them for so it might be an older listing.
Or they might be hoping to get lucky. :)

I just noticed the cheaper one says "special offer limited time only"

They're probably trying to get rid of some of their inventory with the arrival of those new tank shipments.

I'm with Agerg on this, 100%. All I have now in 1/16 is a Pershing, a Firetruck and a couple of WW2 Civvie trucks, but I am sure interested in a KT and as with Aferg, a Sherman... could definitely be an active scale for me.

Very tempting line, especially if 21C turns to dust...

i'm probably going to wait a few more months, just to give 1/18 armour one last chance. 1/16 tanks aren't going anywhere and the variety will be better, if anything, so i figure i can afford to wait a bit longer. I have a substantial investment in 1/18 armour, much of which would be difficult to recover from selling them, so i'm going to wait before taking the 1/16 plunge.

But once i make the decision, i'll be jumping in whole hog, so even if 1/18 tanks come out after that, i wont be getting them.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm no longer interested in the 21st KT or any tanks. I'd still get an 88 or a differnt halftrack/armoured car if they made one, but when that Andrew Design Puma comes out, it will take care of part of that need.

No I understood you meant andrew design, just not what you meant by "nobody wants to fool with"
because they're expensive?
If someone came out with a cheap Puma in 1/16 or 1/18 I would get that instead. I've just always liked the Puma.

They already have 1:16 scale trucks that would go well with the tanks.
this first link of a ford truck has barrels that could pass as fuel containers:
