The Big What If? (XD Figure Collectors Read This!)

General Blasto (and others),

In the DFW area, I have been noticing select WalMarts are pulling all their XD figures. And this is with significant stock left, not just one or two figures left on the pegs.

I read Blasto's post about WalMart doing some sort of "reset" of the toy department. This makes sense. I think this is going on right now. So the XD will re-emerge soon...I hope.

But here is the big "What If" question...what if this is an expanded Tyler, TX experience we're about to witness? (See XD 2-Packs thread for more info.)

If so, then oh my goodness. It will be collecting on a scale never imagined. (No pun intended...get it? Scale? Nevermind.)

Blasto/Cranedriver/CrazyInTexas, do you see what I'm getting at? Do you understand the implications?

Imagine if you will, if 2-packs descended on DFW (or FL for that matter) in Tyler, TX fashion. Do you realize what that would be like? I have been "bum rushed" by other collectors before, trying to get down an aisle first. It's not a pleasant experience. No excuse me, just "out of my way, I'm getting my figures!"

Unleashing that sort of treat on a metroplex is almost unimaginable. Don't even try to compare it to the recent KB craze. We're talking 2-packs here. Loads of 2-packs.

I will say this though. If this comes to pass, I will end up having a closet full of German D-Day 2-packs!

This "reset" may quite be something I dreaded. I was in a Wal-Mart today in Alabama that had finished their "reset" and guess what.....No 21st Century toys at all. They had just a couple of thing left on the clearance isle and that was it. No peg space or shelf space it was all completed and restocked with no XD or 32X or smaller scale stuff at all.

I think what I saw in Texas may have been a farwell send-off. You know send the whole pallet of 2-packs from the distrubution center to one store to kinda dump them off.

On another note Indiana Jones stuff was restricted to three pegs and about 16 inches of shelf space. I think these may be going away after the first of the year.

I will keep everyone posted if I come across anything different. I really hate it that Wal-Mart will stop carrying this line even the two pegs most stores have are better than none.

In short get what you can when you can and good luck to all.

Could this be a sign that wm is droping 21st and target is picking it up?

I hope not, as three sources are always better than two, just like two is better than one, etc.

I was just at the WM on 290/Cypress and they are done with the reset and NO XD! NONE. It was all on a discount aisle along with the summer stuff.

All my local WMs have rearranged the displays, but they haven't pulled any 21st figs. Instead they've restocked with 20+ of the new figs per store!

Nothing is pulled OR reduced in my area.

my local WM has finished their reset, and they still have XD (and smaller scale stuff). Not much--2 pegs of figures and maybe 18 inches of shelf/peg width (from top to bottom). Sp the odds of seeing anything larger than a 32x tank or 1/48 plane are looking pretty slim for the foreseeable future. We'll see if Target moves into the 1/18 line or 21st Century products eventually.

I was at the one on 1960 and TC Jester I believe, it's close to Kueyhkendahl, and they were just moving the stuff. I don't actually think I saw any XD. I don't recall any, and I usually look. I didn't pass by the clearance isle. Have not been to my regular 2 Wal-Marts in the past few days, those are at 1960 and Cutten and 249 and Spring-Cypress. I know that everything has been regular price as far as I can tell.

All of my AO WMs have clearanced off quite a bit of their XD but have replaced it with a similar footprint after their resets:

1/18 figures
1/32 planes
1/32 figures
1/32 playsets
1/48 Armor
1/144 Armor and planes

The only thing that seems to be without a home are 1/48 airplanes at two of the WMs. The third still has them.

Haven't noticed much of a difference here
Platoon figures are almost non-exsistant now, yeah :P And they have been replaced by DAK figures - MGer and ARTy and some sun tan D-day figures, but none of the new figures yet  And no 2 packs either :? After a reviewal of what I have, I need more camo Germans for the 2 D-day/Wermacht dual packs. I could use a few more of the new figures too ;) But 21st still has product at our WMs here 8) Just wish they would get the dual packs and new figures. Da General
