Hello All / P-47 BT

Post by gustav » Sun Mar 06, 2005 3:54 pm

nice, i finally found a support group for my xd affliction! like all of you, i too share in the xd dilemma which is best described as more xd = a lot less money and space! in short, i have been collecting xd since i bought the original me-109 at "tru" for a meager 29.99. my how i miss those days. regardless, i cannot stop buying the new stuff as it ever-so-slowly-and-painfully becomes available.

on the rant front, i go to about 5 walmarts on a semi regular basis and all i ever see are those dang cia or whatever choppers. of course there's always a couple of beat up fws or dday spits, but never any 109s, p47 bts, or corsairs. how i envy.

as for the p47 bt, i received my eileen on the same day my p51 killer came in. talk about apples and oranges! after admiring the p51 i was zero thrilled with the paint job on the p47. i mean, someone must have spiked the rice bowl on that one or let my 5 yr old nephew in the factory. since then i have disowned eileen and now am curious about re-entering the bt water with a snortin bull purchase. what's the consensus on that plane? better quality? worth a buy? let me know.

in the meantime, here's to those of us who didn't buy the mark iv until we were sure it came with side skirts! ha!

Hey welcome to the board Gustav!! You sure did find the right place....

The quality of the bubbletop P-47s has been quite noted. One reason for the shabby job was that there was a fire in the factory where they are painted and thus the poor job. 21st is more than aware of it. I believe that Snortin' Bull is a crisp paint scheme. At least that's how they looked at the show.

Not all of the planes are painted at the same factory. Some are better than others. That's part of the reason why you can find an awesome job on the 109G's and somewhat lousy ones on the P-47s. Life is like a box of chocolates...........

Over-all the schemes are getting much, much better. The re-issue Kepford was light-years ahead of the S1 version we all lamented about with the brushed weathering. I'm sure the 104 and Avenger will be pretty cool when they show up............

Welcome to the board. This could be a great year for 1:18 scale if everything hits as scheduled.

O.K., I'm in the market for a buble top, as far as quality, which one do I want?

I own a great Eileen p-47 BT and the Snorting Bull. If you want to play it safe and only get one I would recommend the Snorting Bull version.
