Just wanted to mention or warn others, that if you think your getting the RAF P-40B on the TRU website. The one they have the picture and description of, http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.js ... Id=3136723 that's not what you will get. It's the CAF Flying Tiger that will arrive. I found out the hard way with a shipping box that looked like it had been run over, and a damaged airplane that was not the one I thought I ordered. Still at $39 plus shipping if you can't find one and are willing to brave the shipping monkeys, there it is.

If you search all of the items in the Military figures catagory then you will see that they are also selling the 1/18 P-51 BBD (but I also saw Bunnie and Flying Undertaker at the stores - so it may be any P-51), 1/18 109G - Seeman, and the 1/18 Mig North Korea (picture shows a silver one, but all I have seen at local stores is the Green one). All are $39.99 + shipping.

Looks like they used a 1/32 scaled version for advertising. Then again, 21st only made a AVG P-40 in 1/18 scale and was news that they would rerelease this one.

Sucks the shark mouth doesn't look quite as aggressive as the RAF version.

Don't know if I'm misreading your post, but I have the 1/18 Motorworks RAF version. I understand this was only sold at WM back in the day.

iflabs, I am not positive but I think there is a 1/32 version of the AFG P-40. Can anyone else confirm?

There are two versions of the 32x (1:32 scale) AVG "Flying Tigers" P-40: #48 flown by Tex Hill and #47 flown by RT Smith. The #47 plane has the same paint scheme as the 1:18 version.

As far as the paint schemes for the 1:18 P-40 go, there is only 1 AVG "Flying Tigers" P-40, 1 RAF P-40, the "Langley Field" P-40, the two Pearl Harbor P-40s and the "Sky Captain" P-40.

The AVG P-40 currently at TRU was first released at Wal Mart in early 2004 and also went to the online retailers that same year. The paint scheme is actually very accurate, save the omission of the nationalist insignia on the wings. The sharkmouth design is not painted through like on the RAF plane, but it is correct. See here on this profile drawing:

Well now I'm confused.

Did not realize there was a sharkmouth RAF P-40 in 1/18.

Yes, indeed they did:

...and it came out a few years before the 32x version ever did

I have an original Motorworks one MIMB. When I saw TRU had one, I immediately jumped on it by mistake, because of their mistake.

I wanted one I could hang up loose.
I think it would look cool with the BBI Desert 109 harrasing it, as they used to play havoc with the obsolete P-40's. Though I'm sure by the time the "G" 109 came out the allies probably either retired the P-40B, or replaced it with the P-40E, which was still outmatched.

UPDATE:
So I called TRU online and told them that 10 days had passed and still no call from the shipper to pick up the damaged P-40. Then I told him (Chris) that the one pictured in online was not the one that I received and that even the description is for the RAF P-40B, yet I received the AVG one(which I already had 2 of)
So he is bypassing all the BS, and sending me a return label asap.

I also said the online add is wrong, he said he was going to take care of that.

I also mentioned to him that the BBI Daisy Jane Corsair that everyone keeps ordering and then getting cancelled (myself included) because it's out of stock yet shows up as in stock needs to be taken care of. He said he would take care of that also.

He was very helpful and a very nice attentive guy. So maybe this mixup won't be encountered by others.

One other thing I mentioned is their packers need to do a better job. Don't know if that problem will ever get solved. But hey, progress.

DAUNTLESS:

I ordered a F4U Daisy June from ToysRUs.com a few months ago when it was on sale for around $29. Mine arrived in a huge box with lots of air bags. It looks you got some bad shippers, not to mention the bad info on their website.
Does ToysRU.coms allow you to return online purchases to the local ToysRUs to exchange it for a model you can personally inspect for paint flaws, make sure it's the right model, etc?

I don't know for sure, never tried it. Sure would be nice. Usually my local TRU's don't have anything good anyways though.
