Small Scale Military Headquarters

So, two things I want to know how to do are cobblestones in 1:18 scale and water.

I know you can do cobblestone streets with dried lentils and plaster, but these are way too small for 1:18 (i think).

Does anyone have any other options for making cobblestone streets... and i would rather not just carve them out of foam... it never turns out right for me... something like lentils, but bigger would be great.

also water... what is the best way?

can you just pour resin down? would that work okay? what is the best way to paint this? can you tint it? And how to you hadd things like "chop" and ripples to this?

I guess i will have to play around with resin... never used it before... but i do have it.

For cobblestones... yeah... not sure on that one yet... still wish that I could just get something like big lentils... or something i dunno

Just thinking off the top of my head about the cobblestones -

This manner would be time consuming, but would look real:

Spread down a layer of wet plaster to serve as your "mortar" and then place pebble gravel (of no more than .25" to .5" for the stones) into the plaster. Clay would also work as a mortar, but plaster would dry and hold. The pebbles can be found at almost any garden nursurey. Here is a diagram of what I am describing, showing the side and top view:

I was at the local hobby shop last weel buying some sheet plastic and noticed they carried some gray sheet plastic with a cobblestone pattern on one side. It looked close enough to 1/18 to me.

For water, take a look in a hobby store for how-to books by train geeks. There have been how many different ways people have came up with to put water on trainsets. On easy method that isn't two bad is clear bathtub caulk. I've used that to add some rain puddles in a trench dioramma, and it worked real well.

For cobblestone, it's not the best looking cobblestone, but check out the Lemax Christmas displays. Its a vinyl sheet, I think mine is about 20"x30", and it cost me $8. If you can wait until June for Christmas decoration , you should be able to pick some up at Michaels. In a couple days, I will try to post a picture of it with some XD figures for you to compare.
