Can someone post or give me a link to what the 21st Winter Tiger looks like...I saw one photo, but it must have been customized because the thing was really white! I can get one at the end of the week from a guy, but I was wondering how easy this thing is to strip down and repaint...thanks!

I'm sure if you go to EBAY's website and type in "Ultimate Soldier Winter Tiger" you're bound to see an auction with a pic.

Here you go:
The Diecast and Plastic versions look pretty much the same. I think there was a noted difference in the shade of the whitewash, but it wasn't too critical. Diecast Tigers are only found at Wal Mart. This is the plastic version that is avaliable to the small retailers. It actually comes with two figures - one looking like the one pictured and the other having the Commander's head.

thanks, that's a cool pic! TMan, do you have this version? Also, how hard would it be to strip off the gear and repaint it should I want to do that? thanks for all the info.

I have the origional plastic gray version that sold at TRU in 2002, but I have seen the Winter version both at Wal Mart and at the Hobbytown in Fresno, which sells XD. They are all the same vehicles, save for the paintjobs and figures.
As far as stripping paint, I haven't done that on an XD product, but if I wanted to repaint a vehicle, I would give is a base coat and then go from there, as opposed to stripping the paint. Using such a tactic, you would loose the markings, but those can be easily customized. Most of the gear on the Tiger is attached via clips or pegs and is removable.
21c also carries a remake of the gray version (sold at small retailers and found at Wal Mart) and an "Eastern Front" tri-color cammo scheme, found at the small retailers.
In case you do not have one of these tanks, this is a classic example of supurb 21c engineering. It is their best piece of armor to date - and to think it is now one of the older vehicles! The tank comes with a full interior that includes crew seats, stowed cannon rounds, and a detailed gun breach (including a spent shell in the catcher). There are is also the turret MG, a jerry can and crew rucksacks mounted in the turret. Hatches on the rear deck open to reveal the engine, radiators, and fuel tanks. All the crew and escape hatches open and have the wheel lock and handles detailed.
I would recommend the Winter Tiger for the simple fact that it will be easy to get the whole 5 man crew using the XD Battle of the Bulge series German Tanker figures, without having to customize your own.

well i broke down and got a winter one! (cuz it was marked down a few bucks) so here is a non-studio shot

heh! and i also have a few of the grey version when they came out, but am too lazy to paint one of them white...first impressions when i saw it at walmart was that it wasn't as "white washed" as the stock photo shows (even the pic i took looks lighter). it could almost be covered in rubble dust or something...
but still fits well as a winterized.
one thing i do like is the weight of the thing...it is part diecast and that is kinda nice..a little "ting" as something hits the side plates...
a great re-issue by 21st.

Glad to see the white-wash isn't overdone. The one I'm looking at isn't a MOTORWORKS version, it's the boxed 21st version. I guess they are exactly alike except the diecast metal. Sounds way cool. I wasn't talking about stripping paint, just all the gear and stuff off the exterior. I would just repaint like I did on my M113. Airbrushing or spray paint works really well. You can't tell my M113 was ever that tan color.

actually the plastic version comes with 2 figures in winter uniforms - one commander and one crew. (at least thats what it says on websites)
the walmart diecast version only comes with 1 figure

in winter uniform - the crew member with soft cap and headset... exactly how it is shown in the pic that tmanthegreat posted.
this is of course assuming that the figure with the billed had is a commander and the soft "flight cap" is a regular crew member. anyone with more info on the difference betweene the hat is?

Just got mine, and it's my first Tiger....can't believe it took me this long to throw down the cash for one. I have to say they went all out on the Tiger. The interior is on par with what I try to do with all my tanks. I wish they had done this with their other tanks. I wonder if the forward hatches are placed correctly, because the sponsons really encrouch on the hatches. Does this sound right to anyone else?
