Ultimate Soldier 1:6 R/C M-5 Stuart Tank
There is a remote chance that I will consider purchasing this vehicle as they are at the Wal Marts in Fresno for around $130, which doesn't seem too bad for such a potentially cool vehicle.
I was wondering what some of the pros and cons of it were. The videos of it moving about on the old 21c website looked really cool but I would rather get the scoop from those board members who actually own the vehicle. Particularly, how well does it move over terrain, what is its signal range, how well do the features (turret, turning, shooting) work, and can it hold a figure standing in the turret? Thanks for your help!

I felt it was well worth the $149.00 I paid when they first came out.The sounds are great.Love when you turn the power switch on the engine turning over and then starting
except the turret turning sound seems a little loud to me.No a figure wont stand in it you may get one to kinda"sit" in it if you squish him in I opened mine up using a moto tool it was very easy, now he has lots of leg room lol.the front hatches are blanked off inside but also easy to open up.Unless they have fixed the wiring mix up you will have to rewire the motor connections because its backwards. The battery takes a loooong time to charge(18 hours about) the main thing is to keep her all lubed up I do the gears and the boogies etc before running.yahoo groups has a good group called M5Stuartrctankbattalion. Hope this was helpful. Kim

Do'H forgot about the terrain part. I have not had any problems going anywhere yet.i have no steep hills right round here either but it goes through rough terrain great in tall grass.Fresh cut grass isnt a good idea(spent a while cleaning up after that lolI lost a track when I used it in the snow it built up on the rear idler and forced it off.Range with fresh batteries I was getting around 50 to 60 feet. The recoil effect is somewhat cheesy,as it makes the whole tank move backward a tiny bit.
My Opinion
A few years back when I collected 1-6th I bought the non motorized version for $75 which included the shipping, a pretty good deal. However after the newness wares off the thing is so big, there is no place to put it. And then to try to sell it the cost of shipping will drive buyers away.
My advice get over the urge to buy, you will be happier in the long run.

I love mine. Tank turns easily. Watch for twigs when turning, if my hits a twig while turning, the tread tends to come off. An easy fix, it just pops back on.
My range is also about 50-60 feet, runs and looks great. Sounds effects, especially the engine turning over and firing up is just great. I agree that the recoil is a bit excessive for a 37mm gun, more like a nice howitzer of the M-8 Stuart version.
My turret hold one of my half guys nicely. I picked up a few broken 1:6 guys and one with no legs beyond the knee. He fount a home.
Can't wait until the new 1:6 R/C Hummer comes out.
Oh, and if you run out of Germans to fight, a small dog goes nuts when you charge it. No good for my cat though, she totally ignores the tank. She dares me to bother her while she likes the Jack Russell going nuts.

I counted 7 of these at my Wal-Mart tonight,...the price is $149.99. Too Much... how do you get this for under a $100. I heard some Wal-Marts are reducing the prices on these...how do you get your local store to price match a Wal-Mart with a lower price. What is the cheapest you guys have seen this tank??

Picked up two last year at different stores on clearance for $79 and some change and $64 and some change.I actually ran across the new USMC scheme the other day and noticed the two they had on the endcap which had a sign stating they were $100.00, yet on both boxes they had a upc price sticker (same as found on the new 1/6 kublewagen and us jeep) that read something like "$67.55 1/6 Asst." and had the upc strand. So, basically if the cashier sees that sticker with the box being soo big, they'd more than likely scan the sticker as opposed to flipping the box to get at the upc tag. I'm thinking they mismarked the tanks with the jeep price tags but if they're still there this Saturday, I may have to inquire as to if thats the correct price.Hollywoodkbl wrote:I counted 7 of these at my Wal-Mart tonight,...the price is $149.99. I really no longer collect 1/6 (aside from the "real" joes) but when I saw this tank, it reminded me of a great tank I had when I was younger, and if memory serves me correct, it was from Radio Shack (and quite a bit smaller, I'd venture a guess and say it was somewhere around 1:24). I took one out of the box and tried it, thing was amazing for the size..I though of making a flamethrow version with actual butane torch...lol jk of course.

I bought a third one, (Jungle Fever) for $50 after Christmas. I drove it in the snow, the snow built up on the drive sprockets, then the right side sprocket broke because of the extra track tension. I took it back.
Just a side note. Jungle Fever is 49mhz with two different operating frequencies (A or B). So now we can run three tanks at once.

You know what...if someone could please give Tman and myself a story location with this discount, I'm going to my Wal-Mart and ask for a price match....they will do it if I have a store location...they may call to verify, but most likely will not. I have had them price match before and they have done it no questions asked.

hello
they have bunch of them...like 7 0r 8 here in Florida for $70 each....
i waiting to see if the price goes down to $50 or $30 to buy them.
they are in clearance.
My suggestions is to wait and wait until they lower the price to get rid of them...
in my local Wal-Mart they went from $150-140-130-120-100-90-70...so i figure they will come down again soon !
and then i will charge to the register!
hahahaha!

Okay a couple of things-
1. I live in KENTUCKY and our Wally 1/6 Tanks only went down to 80.00
2. Walmart does not price match. Tried that already. They give this BS about "Each store has to price for the area they are in...blah blah blah"
(I personally feel if you find it at a clearence price at one Wally all Wallys should honor it. Try it, but they all know the same speech)
3. My brother-in-law bought one for his son for Christmas. I got to "test drive" it in the house before he gave it to his son. EXCELLENT!! I love spinning the turret around and firing the machine gun. The recoil is cool!
Tman, I would wait for it to go down a bit. But don't wait too long. Our Wally had them one day for 80.00 (about 3) and next time I went in they were gone.

BE SHURE to ask if your Wal Mart has Half off weekends.I went to the CERES Ca.Wal Mart.(before Badcat made a sweep)and got one priced at 70.00.It rang up at 30.00 where I promptly ran and got the other one.All clearance items are 1/2 off Friday night through Sunday there.Ask your local stores if they have that policy.
