Hobby Engine M1A2 Abrams....??

Anybody ever seen one of these in the flesh....?? Looks reasonably accurate, decently weathered, and even includes a nice stowage set. The one piece static model style tracks would need to be replaced, but a drive sprocket and replacement track set from a 1/16 Pershing, (about $18 from Mato) while not entirely accurate, might work out OK for this purpose.

Yes I've seen those before. They're okay. They look more like M1A1s rather than M1a2. Why couldn't they have put a CIWS on it..

They also only have one speed. But the sound effect are good, and they also have working suspensions.

The tracks...IMHO, the Pershing tracks will look completely wrong. If you really want to upgrade the tracks, get the tracks from the Tamiya Leopard 2A6. They look look very much alike to the Abrams big foot tracks. Although in real life, they're not interchangeable.

Thanks Googly... yes, I know the Pershing tracks are not a good replacement accuracy wise, I was just looking for a relatively low cost functional improvement to the "rubber band" tracks. The problem with a set of the Tamiya Leo 2 tracks is that a set of those, plus the matching drive sprockets could set me back as much (or more) than the tank itself...and that's a cost I can't expend at the moment... unless you know where I can get a good deal on some...

Are the Leo 2 tracks metal...?? If so they would probably not be a good direct replacement for this tank, the motors and drive gears don't look very stout for a 1/16 tank, and would probably not last long with the added weight and grip of metal tracks. BTW, I've seen a few of your posts at some of the RC tank forums, I assume it's you unless there is another Googlydoogly running around..

I might like to get your opinion on some RC armor related questions some time if you don't mind me dropping you a PM..

You can get metal tracks and sprockets for it

You're right, the Leo tracks are expensive, and the metal version of the Leo tracks will be too heavy for that Abrams' gearboxes. You can probably drive it around with metal tracks indoors, but it will surely die outside.

And yep, I also post on rcuniverse, although I'm fairly new there.
