Post by ostketten » Fri May 23, 2008 3:27 pm

Don't know if any of you guys received this email, but I thought I would post it in case anybody is in need of some of these items. The following is the complete text of the message I received, minus the images, sorry but I don't know how to make those appear, but if anyone wants the email forwarded to them PM me with your email addy...........

AVIATORNUT 1:18 BLOWOUT SALE:

Daily I am fielding question about whether or not there will be new aircraft produced in 1/18 scale. So I thought I would explain to everyone what I perceive the future is for the scale.

First off the factories, that is 21st, Admiral Toys and bbi do not have any new product planned for this year.

The only thing that we may still see is a SBD Dauntless from Admiral Toys and a couple of repaints from the other two factories.

Here is why we have seen delays and cancellation:

*Material Costs in China have gone way up

*Fuel cost

*Labor costs have increased

*Poison inspection costs

*shipping across the Atlantic is way up (3x)

*The dollar fluctuation with the Yen has cause a major problem.

As for Aviatornut we are having a hard time getting new product and existing items since the factories do not want inventory. Ad to this the fact we lost five air shows this year. We have decided to sell off most of our 1/18 scale stock.

Now is your time to buy what you want before it is gone.

Hmmm... maybe it's because the sale prices are not listed at the website... as the ad states you need to call or email....LOL>>>>>>

I don't have a clue... I don't work for these guys, but if you email him maybe he can explain why... :? It's Mox Nix to me if anybody takes advantage of this sale or not, I only posted it for the benefit of some of our members who collect XD planes, I have no idea if the prices are "good" or not, but they seemed OK.

Well, that pretty much summed up our assumptions on future of 1:18. I guess it's now time to look around and start enjoying what you have. 1:18 is special, pure and simple.....

If Aviatornut.com is correct then it appears that like the 21st 1/18 Steve Ritchie F-4D is a dead project...and Admiral's F-4, too.
