Small Scale Military Headquarters

I see the Toy federation is advertising the Walker Bulldog as WW2,I got sucked in by the WW2 claim some time ago and bought one through the 21st Cent fan club. I'm not an expert,but figured it looked a bit like a Chaffee and must be a WW2 variation of this;but when I got it it says Vietnam. I only really collect WW2,so it was a bit of a letdown,but my son likes playing with it;I know,I should have known and it's my fault for being a dummy,just wanted to get it off my chest!

You have been forgiven. Hey, there's a new Normandy campaign Leopard tank coming out. You game? Should be real cool and accurate!

Set of WWII helicopters???????????? I thought only the Blackhawk flew in WWII. Did the Apache also???????????

Yep, you are sooo right. If they hadn't supported the Marines at Iwo Jima with such affective rocket-fire, I dunno what would of happened.

How can history ever erase the exploits of the 101st Air Assault Division in Normandy. I mean, the classic fast roping action into Carentan is stuff of legends. The Germans never knew what hit them..........

My chime into the joke is a little late, but aparently F-14s from the Jolly Rogers Squadron also partook in WWII, as well as the USS Nimitz! They even took out a couple Zeros

Of course! Only second to U-587 in total historical accuracy. Actually, from an aviation point of view, it is a classic. The scene of the F-14s coming in behind the zeros was unforgettable. I gotta try to find that movie!

Final Countdown was a very good movie for both sci fi buffs (like me) and aviation/wwii buffs (like me). I watched it over and over when i was but a young lad. It was well done, original and 'believable' within its genera. It's also a movie that i haven't seen on tv for years......not sure why that is. You'd at least think the History Channel would show it from time to time

Maybe there needs to be an 'Alternate History Channel'


Ahem, but getting back on topic the Walker Bulldog was a Korean war era tank, although it saw no service in Korea. In fact it saw no US combat service at all. The only documented combat use of the Bulldog was by the South Vietnamese army and the Lebanese army during the civil war in Lebanon. It's an attractive vehicle (for an American tank ) and it's too bad it doesn't have a richer combat history. But it doesn't.

In fact German flying saucers in WWII are more plausible than a Walker Bulldog...and that's a fact.

In the film "Patton", many of the US tanks, as opposed to being Shermans, are M-41s. The Germans use M-48s/M-60s. Perhaps some of the less historically minded modelers in the pre Roy Sutherland days at 21c got confused...

Nonetheless, I agree with the opinion that its an attractive tank. I've got mine crewed with BoB US Tanker figures and it looks great. Its too bad 21c didn't include an interior on their new Panzer IV like on the old M-41.

To be historically correct,what type of tanks did King Kong toss around in the 1930's on his USA tour,Lees and Grant's? I tried to hook up with Peter Jacksons WETA productions who are remaking King Kong over here(Wellington),I thought maybe I could help them out with some RC tanks for the big guy to squash.I never got past the receptionist (surprise) but if it had been set in the 1940's I would have been more persistent with my WW2 tanks. I have operated one of my tanks for a local political sitcom called 'spin doctors' where my pershing pulled over a statue of our PM a la how the US tanks pulled over statues of Saddam,hehe,I'll keep trying!!

Weren't the M41's also used in the film "Full Metal Jacket"?
