Just bought the truck at Wal Mart this afternoon as well. I like it - much better than the truck could have been. It finally gives my Germans a decent transport and something for my allied fighters to strafe

The truck looks good with the tarp off of it.
Will have to paint the floor and benches though.

Bought it at Wal-mart it was $19.76 the figure was $6 something. For both it came to $29.00 with tax . Would be cool to have a R.C truck like this

.
Aferg I usually call him S.O online. That way I can call him more things than just hubby or husband .Like significantly obtuse, significantly obnoxious or significantly over confident

My detailed review -
One of the most pleasant surprises - it comes easily right out of the box in a single piece. None of Hasbro's usual twist-ties or plastic molds or anything. I remember it taking about an hour to free the AT ST from the deluxe Hoth pack. Good times......
It does feel a little on the smallish side, but it still looks great with some neat features and gimmicks.
Press the hood ornament (NOT an accurate Mercedes ornament. Heh, I wonder why?) and the front grill pops down.
There's already a whip attached to the back to tow your figures with and a lever that lets you move it from side to side.
There are sculpted hand holds on the plastic top so Germans can hang on as they move their way up towards the driver cab.
The cab is nicely detailed with a steering wheel, stick shift and even pedals. (Only two, though, so I guess there's no brake. )
German soldier fits quite comfortably and naturally into the seats.
Though the truck feels, as I said, a bit small, there's plenty of room for German soldiers to sit on the benches in the back.
The box converts into a rather cool display backdrop and there is punch out crate to put in the back. This crate seems a little too long with its proportions and definitely won't fit the Ark accessory, but it's still kinda neat.
The only real shortcoming - I think the glass in the windshield should have been removable. Indy gets chucked through there, after all, and then proceeds to chuck other Germans through the same hole. Feels like an oversight.
There is some nice detailing on the doors (which open, naturally). German writing pre-applied on a decal. (Translation anyone?)
All in all, a very fun vehicle. B+

Does anyone have pics of FOV germans or 21st germans sitting in the back of the truck with the tarp up? I want to buy this truck except I want to make sure my germans sit in.

somebody asked what kind of truck it is supposed to be. As near as i can tell it's a mercedes G3a and looks to be about the right size too. Front fenders are different so i'm not sure if i've got the right truck or not.
here are some pics of the g3a.

If anyone picks these up and doesn't want the paper crates that come with these I'll take them off your hands, as I won't be getting these. Also I'll take any of the ones that come with the figures too.

The FOV German figures fit best in the cab and on the benches of the truck. The shirt tunic on those figures is made of a softer plastic and those figures sit better and more realistically than the 21c Germans. You will want to take off the rucksack and shovel from the figures so they can fully sit on the bench. Also, because the bench is a little low, the figures still have to sit with the legs extended. As Kim's photo above shows, the figures fit very well within the cab with a bit of headspace and elbow room. I've decided to just use the FOV Germans with my Indy Truck - they look more realistic than the Hasbro ones and simply fit in the tighter spaces better than the 21c Germans. All in all, its nice to have a decent German "soft-skinned" transport

So Blasto, how many trucks in total do you plan on acquiring? Just curious.

Interesting product description on the Walmart site. I'm kinda disappointed since the play value for this specific product is important to me:
"Amazing action vehicle features include a "break-through" windshield... The break-away door ejects the truck's passenger, and a removable ark means your action-figure hero can claim the treasure."
Seems this was an advance blurb based on their original intent. Technically, the statement about the removable Ark is accurate, that is, after you assemble the cardboard cutouts from the internal packaging. It's a good thing that I happen to have a plastic Ark crate from the Disney Park collection.

The retracting whip is clearly a nod to the same feature on the 1982 Kenner version.
I do wonder if the truck is in scale with the 1:1 version. I pulled out my own Kenner truck that cost me 3x the cost of the new truck about 10 years ago, which is surprisingly (and then, not) smaller than the new version and in comparison had very toy-like proportions, coloring, etc., if you know what I mean, as if it was patterned from the comic book adaptation of the movie. The attention and fidelity to detail on the Hasbro version also looks very very close for a toy (vs. that of BBI, 21C, etc., made to scale miniature standards) with minor deviations from the 1:1 version, such as the lack of the Mercedes emblems as mentioned and the general shape of the tire treads.
As a side, Hasbro's companion piece to the truck, the German Horch dubbed by Lucasfilm as the "Nazi Jeep" is similarly faithful in reproducing the details and features of the 1:1 film vehicle except of course the toy weapon that's just begging for a proper MG34. The German figures could also use some goggles among other things, though Hasbro might have been too accurate by giving proper MP40 pouches instead of the movie inaccurate rifle cartrige pouches!
Well...for fans of the movie like myself, these vehicles are a windfall and beg for additional modifications complete with groundwork, weathering, etc. to closely approximate a snapshot from the Raiders convoy chase scene (personally, I want to do the moment when Indy is about to transfer from the horse). Looks like Hasbro means business by this direction in toy design. If the new 3 ft. "in scale" Millenium Falcon that Hasbro is bringing out soon can be an indicator, for me it's a ray of hope for an accurate scale Flying Wing and at least the bike w/sidecar; hoping the series is popular since Hasbro did state they're taking a wait -and -see strategy to determine how much further they'll expand the line.

Hasbro said wanting to do other vehicles in the same pricepoint, meaning in the standardized size boxes... That doesn't bode well for a flying wing or whatnot... They've addressed either the wing, or the tank, directly as something they're not likely to get to. I forget when/where that was mentioned though.
I was equally disappointed to know the playset molds are long dead... THe Maproom floor is easily a must-have piece for Indy w/Ark deluxe figure... I miss that set more than any other. It's an iconic scene, it's an iconic piece, and the fact they can't just crank out more is sad on so many levels.
The Well of Souls is usually most people's first vote, but for me the Maproom will always be that moment I remember from Raiders the most, when the Staff of Ra lights up the building with the Ark. Outstanding stuff and it was such a simple, cool "toy" piece too.
