I've been lurking for awhile but I haven't posted here before so I'd like to say hello. While searching eBay I found something that might interest some of the Modern Vehicle fans. It a 1/18 Chinese Light Attack Vehicle. For anyone that has played the Online game Battlefield 2 it should look instantly familiar. From the time of this posting it ends in just under 13 hours. It's kinda pricey though and the shipping is high but I've never seen one anywhere else before and I thought someone here might be interested. It looks nice though for the price the machineguns look rather toylike.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing. This is pretty cool, but I am not sure it is $170 cool.

You're right. It is way more than I would spend but at least if people know it exists they might find one cheaper somewhere else. I wonder what kinds of obscure 1/18 goodies like this people will bring back from the Olympics in China this summer?

Looks

, but don't think it's worth what the seller is asking for it.

That is a cool Chinese Jeep. I would like to have one in 1/1 scale.
Welcome to the forum.

That little sucker and a tank by I think the same people were a topic a while back. The jeep is actually very realistic but I think we decided it was under-scale and the seller was trying to take advantage of the demand for 1:18. I know that was the case for the related tank.

yes be very wary about scale claims.....could easily be over or under scale, by a lot.
Thanks for the heads-up!

kduck - thanks for the heads-up! Based on the measurements the seller posted, 1/18 would seem to be very close to the right scale on this one.
The price is too steep, but like you said, a good one to watch out for if someone sells it cheaper.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I did a bit more searching and there are other Chinese military vehicles listed. Like the previous one they are all very expensive.
There's this Chinese Hummer knockoff with a mounted MG. Don't know if the Chinese army uses it though:

And there are two versions of a BJ212 utility vehicle that looks a bit like a Russian UAZ:

There's no way these things are worth the asking price plus $30+ for shipping. They look kinda neat but they seem a bit lacking in detail for the price.

Jeeze that's gonna make IFF a bit hard if we ever have to face these guys in combat! We used silhouette flash cards for training when I was in the army and generally there were key differences that made it easy to tell friendly vehicles from enemy vehicles. It must be kinda hard to tell the difference when the silhouettes are almost exactly the same. Also the Chinese now have a helmet that looks a lot like the US Kevlar helmet which means that just about the only way to tell the difference in a low visibility situation will be by the silhouette of the personal weapons.
It is a neat looking model though. I also saw a camouflage version on eBay but it was a bit more expensive. I'm not really into modern stuff but the exotic stuff is kinda interesting. These things would look nice crewed up with some custom troops.
