as far as scale goes? Is the PTE noticably bigger or about the same?

From what I've seen there's not much size diff. I own the bbi version but haven't the room for the pte version. But they look pretty close from what I could tell. PTE does rock for the price. :)

I did once purchase the PTE Littlebird, but after stripping it of some of the accessories, I gave it to some little children that I tutor. (They loved it, BTW!)

As for a comparison, both of the BBI versions are far, far better. They are much more realistic and actually have more moving parts, especially when the removable doors and swappable armaments are concerned. The PTE version is not bad, however. It is pretty much to scale, and looks good, but has a number of inaccuracies. The fuselage shape is off, landing skids are wrong, rotorblade assembly is rather bulky, the ordinance is large and the like. The miniguns on it are neat and quite possibly the best feature of the PTE Littlebird. They can actually be removed with ease and attached to the slots on the rocket-pod mount on the BBI Littlebird 8)

It doesn't. However, I don't think it was ever intended to be a totally accurate scale representation the Littlebird. It is a bit more on the toy side, built a little beefier to handle the abuse dished out by the up and coming collectors.

The Skids on the BBI version are way off. We do not have the High skids, we have the Low profile ones.

Another thing that bothers me is the Door handles are on the wrong sides on the BBI Blackhawks.

Yes I also noticed that the cargo doors appear to be in back to front, I did think about swapping them around but then the stencilling would be all wrong so I have learned to live with it (at least for the moment that is).

The thing that gets my goat on the Blackhawk is the way the struts are attached to the inner stores pylon, one of these days I'm going to fix that, oh and the closed crew chief windows, I wish BBI would alter the moulds so these could be opened or at least be in the open position.

The civilian style tall skids of the Littlebird are also something that I have learned to live with but at the same time have always planned to rectify.

The new (S3) MH-6 version of the Littlebird is a lot more Night-stalker accurate and a truer AH-6 can be built from this. The S1 and S2 releases make a great AH-6 Defender version though, especially when the TOW armament is applied.

With a little(bird) bit of an effort the front bubble can be removed and those big fat rubbery peddles can them be deleted, I did this on one of mine, replacing them with appropriately bent thick paper clips, I also added some cushioning to the seats with some 5mm foam to give the pilot a more realistic sitting position, although I also had to increase the joint cuts of the figure as well to achieve this, after which a dobb of superglue was needed in the joints to maintain the desired new arrangement.

In detail i would say the bbi is better. Both dont seem to have a size difference. I own a bbi little bird and i too have noticed the error on the skids and door handles as well. But overall bbi's is way better 8)
