Small Scale Military Headquarters

Looks like BBI is coming out with a 1/32 Wildcat. Perhaps to test the water for 1/18 scale . Like Sponge Bob says. I am ready !!!!!

YIKES !!! This has been posted on the 1/32 page Maybe I should look on it more often........ Naw.

A 1/18 scale Wildcat would be pretty cool. It would look nice with the rest of the 1/18 Grumman aircraft produced the last few years.

That main gear set up will be interesting. I'd like to see what route they take to replicate that intricate piece. Maybe giving it a go in 1/32 scale first is a wise choice.

I'm not going to hold my breath for the 1/18 version, but it will be certainly welcomed if in fact it does get produced. Heck, it will be nice to see the 1/32 version roll out. At least its something new.


And no, I have no intentions to start collecting midget, er, I mean 1/32 scale.

I do like my 1/18 scale aircraft, and I have a few. But it is hard to ignore the plethora of aircraft available, or becoming available in 1/32.

Many of which I would like to see in 1/18, but doubt that they will ever be made i.e. the F4 phantom which I do have in 1/32. (It has the scull on cross bones on it what can I say), and now the wildcat, (as most of you know I'm a sucker for blue planes).

There are 190A's, D's, F's, P51B's, D's, Macci 202's, 205's, ME109's, and jugs a plenty, and to think of how many more could be hanging from my ceiling in this tiny scale.

I have to wonder if 1/32 is the trend of the future, as it seems more and more attention is going towards this scale. One thing in favor of 1/18, but I must wonder for how long, is the absence of the P38 in 1/32. If one of the big three were to produce a good P38 in 1/32, I would have to say that I might be very tempted to jump scale, so to speak. As the offerings in this scale are becoming very tempting.

Didn't I read somewhere that the profit margin on 1/18th is MUCH higher than 1/32. Even taking into account more plastic, larger mold, with the larger size boxes etc. the companies make 4 times the money.

But I guess with a Wal-Mart/Chinese mentality where only shear numbers count; that selling 1,000 1/32nd planes @$2 profit is better than selling 250 1/18th @$8 profit, what are we large scale collectors to do?
